W203/CL203/S203 TIRE Discussion Thread - Every question on TIRES
My luck with the original Michelin front tires has been better. At 30,000 they are ready to be replaced now. I will go with the Kumho Ecsta ASX again as I happy with the rears so far. No bad characteristics so far on the Kuhmo's at half the price.

Been running some General's I have on another set of wheels...
they've been ok, but noisy. Looking forward to getting the ps2's on again on
my amg rims.
Just need 2 matching 245-40-17's, there's a couple on ebay, but they're shot.

I decided to go with the Pilot Sprt A/S's again because I really like the feel of the tire. The Michelin Hydromax's on my wife's Caravan are a little stiff, but they do hold in water/puddles very well - the Hydromax's are supposed to have like a 90,000 mile warranty. I have some Kumho MX's on my Porche and they seem pretty nice, especially for the money, but will probably go to some Goodyears next time. I've heard/seen good/bad on the Kumho's, depending on the model. Also hear good things about the Falken, and the Falken and Kumho's seem to be compared to each other quite a bit. Had a set of Toyo proxes on a Z car I used to own and liked them a lot.
Tires are very subjective, and it realy depends on what you want or are looking for. If you really want more treadlife, enough to sacrifice a little comfort/handling, I'd suggest going with the Kumho's or Falken's.

But to answer your question specifically, were the Monoblock VI's on another w203? The 245/45R18 is a tire size I haven't heard used on the w203 before.
In fact, going 245/40R18 would be more ideal for the w203 based on calculations. I'm assuming this is for a non-staggered setup.
-edit- forgot to mention that the "rubbing" factor would also have to come into consideration when running 245's up front.
They are monoblock Aero style II from a W140. My car is not lowered so they said there won't be major rubbing problems, only when I do full turns. I need a tire that doesn't buldge out too much, so I'm going with toyo tires and using 5mm spacers. All this is without lowering though.
I'm already running 245/45r18 in the back and they are fine.
Thanks.
thanks,
Phin
