W203/CL203/S203 TIRE Discussion Thread - Every question on TIRES

Did they go out of business or move???

Still looking for a shop around the South Bay area to mount my rims & tires.
I have no clue. I tried calling as well...

I actually called ef1 today and they were apparently on vacation (and I missed the thing on their website as well...)
Ed, I asked them about your camber arms. They said 1 hour at $90 and $99 for an alignment.

In comparison to the BMW I drove last week, I think my ride could be made quite a bit more sporty. As in, a touch less play in the steering.
Ohh, and thanks for the kick in on the thread in OT.

I'm just giving you the general specs that work for majority of the people running 19's. That being said, depending on what the offsets are on the wheels, you may have to run 255's in the rear to make it work without rubbing. Others have had to do that as well.
Oh, and also, the wheels are 19x8.5 ET35 / 19x9.5 ET38, those should fit well with the setup Drex said on my 02 C240 correct? Thanks for any help you guys can give me.
General Exclaim UHPs, 20k with no more than 1/2 tread left. Think I could easily get another 15k out them. Just daily driving.
anyone else?
getting another rear pair of General tires won't cost more than 300 installed i think...
last set I had of 265 in the rears lasted about 9-10,000 miles and had a 340 treadwear
I loved every minute of every drive
After just 18mos. I sold the rims and tires. 24K on them, back tires were bald, showing belts. Fronts had 4 or 5/32nds on them. They were A temp, A traction, and 300 tread wear. Fronts were 235/30/ZR19s I think, and the rears were 245/35/ZR19 as I had a problem with rubbing the 265s on cornering.
Sorry, it's been almost a year since I sold the rims/tires. I just remember that I was pissed when I got them on finally (back when everyone said that 18s was the biggest you could go). I got the 19s on, then found out a few months later that 20s actually have a smaller diameter available and are smaller overall than 20s. 20s will go on our cars no problem, plus their usually cheaper than 19s

That being said, have you tried the tire size calculator? I believe I put a link for that on the first page of this thread or the wheel thread.
But just so you don't have to do any work (yes, you should be thanking me for spoon feeding you this answer because this has been discussed in this thread and you really should read through first), the "optimal" setup to match as close as possible to the rolling diameter of the stock 17's is 225/35R19 and 255/30R19.
Now that I've clarified things, Why is your offset 38 all around? That's weird. I'm assuming simply because you don't have big-brake setup. You'd have to search through the forums to see others who are running that type of offset on wheels with 19's.
Regards!

About the offset.....the front is 35 and the rear is 38, not 38 all around.
That being said, I think the stock rims, from what I remember have a et32/et36 offset (can't remember off the top of my head).
What I highly suggest is using the wheel offset calculator that is on the first post of the AFTERMARKET WHEEL THREAD. You can input the stock width of a wheel (w/offset) and also the aftermarket width of a wheel (w/ offset) and it'll tell you the measurements on the inside and the outside. If you figure you need a few mm of clearance from when the tires push in on bumps and make sure you are good w/ clearance on the fender, you should be fine.
So this is my problem. I just checked my special order slip from CostCo and they wrote the order down wrong! Instead I'm getting BFG gForce 235/35 for the front
and 265/35 for the rear
. The tire calculator says it will be 0.52" of extra radius. The 265/30 rear tires already fit on the car, so any mods for that have already been done. The fronts are already here (from Reno) and the rears should be showing up on Monday afternoon (from Ireland!). Will the rear size be a problem? Will they fit? Are there any downsides? Or should I reject them? Drop is not important to me.
thanks,
Chris

23mm LESS inner clearance
EXTEND an extra 15mm outer position
Now I'm not exactly sure that this means, but 23mm less inner clearance seems like a lot. I'm actually guessing these wheels aren't going to fit my car well.

Hmmm, for some reason, I thought I read that the OEM 16's being 36 offset (but I could be completely wrong, since I never had the OEM 16's).
According to this calculator http://www.worldwidemetric.com/metcal.htm, 23 mm is a little less than 1 inch. 15mm is a little more than 1/2 inch.
Like I said, if you're having a shop do it, I would ask them first. If you're doing it yourself, take measurements and take a guesstimate of where your new rims would sit.
Are you running the stock luxury suspension or did you drop your car?
