W203/CL203/S203 TIRE Discussion Thread - Every question on TIRES
However, I have bought from local stores for my C230....Only because I waited for chords to show and didn't want to wait for shipping....
Another company I'm a big fan of is edgeracing.com
These guys are awesome for wheel and tire packages.
The most recent set of tires I bought for the Benz are the Falken FK452s (i think that's the darn name).....not quite as sticky as the Contis, but pretty good otherwise. we'll see how long these last. as this is my 8th set of rears and 6th set of fronts.
I've bought from tirerack.com (got good prices on sways, rims, and struts/springs purchases from them too), vulcantire.com (very good prices on Falkens), and my local shop when they're competitive.

I really am digging these Bridgestone A050 Pole Positions. Ride as good or better than Pilot Sport PS2. And stick like crazy.

The dealer quoted what I believe is a crazy price for tires. Heck, the tires are little hoops to begin with. I just want to go to a place, get tires, have the proper stems and weights and be done with it.

Who make good tires? Which ones to buy?
Tirerack has lots of reviews on lots of brand.
Decide what you want then source it locally.
Check the local tire dealers by Googling them.
Often individual shops have reviews on various sites.
Those little hoops can cost $50 or they can cost over $200 each.
Nankang is the low price leader. Then it's that Korean brand...
General is the #1 rated tire on tirerack "for the money".
They'll last longer, but overall I think they're crap. But....
It just depends what you're looking for. Price, ride, traction, longevity.
Depends on your priority.
I've had Michelin, Conti's, Fuzion, and General, and now after much research, I got the Bridgestones. The #1 rated tire in that category,
(Super Mega Ultra High performance...or whatever)
and the price is less than the Michelin's and they are as good or better for
60-75% of the price. But they'll not last long I suspect.
If your wife doesn't drive fast, doesn't care how fast the tires turn in, or if they have the best traction, and expects them to last a while, she could be very happy with the Generals.

I usually employ Costco. The benefits of buying from Costco are; best price (if you include installation) and decent warranty. However, there's one drawback, Costco uses a fairly inexpensive wheel/tire balancing machine.
I usually employ Costco because of the convenience, but if I were particularly particular, I would only employ tire installers with this equipment.

This tire/wheel balancer offers side to side balancing, and is considered one of the best on the market.
How far down in Florida?; it is a looong state; do you mean the urban jungle of Miami hyphen Dade, Croward and Palm Beach Counties?
I would not be buying aftermarket rims ever. We are just looking for safe tires that would furnish a comfortable ride.
