Voltage Spike to 17.5???

So in the mornings when its cold out it seems that my voltage spikes from 12 to 17.5 could this be a bad VR? interior lights and radio turn off for 5 or so seconds then turn back on. And sometimes I get the ABS warnings....

Yes, I am certain replacing the Voltage Regulator will take care of the issue.

Just to add, I wouldn' even start a car before fixing, could burn lots of other things.

Voltage where? How are you reading this? Have you put a VM directly on the battery during this period to read it?

Did you put a meter across the battery at the same time to see if the reading was accurate? Since you're getting other weird failures maybe it's not your alternator but something else. Just trying to narrow it down.

Im going to take it in this next week and have my indy take a look at it. When he put my battery in he checked the voltage and it was fine. But the car was warm when he checked though. I might leave it overnight so he can see what i see most mornings....
