Exclamation Could these 0-100km/h stats be correct!!!

I just did some research on a w203 I may be test driving. The Sports model 2006.

0-100km/h in 9.7 secs That seams very slow.

Could this be true?

I've heard conflicting 0-60 times for the M271 as well... some site say 8.0 second, others 7.6?

well my friend has a C200K and we did a time on it. Its around 8.5 with 2 ppl in the car. But its a japanese spec W203, so i assume each region W203 has different power differences but not by much. By far i think the US spec W203 are slightly underpowered. But the W203s here in my country are all usually japanese or on gulf specs and almost every W203 are good in straight runs, but the only w203 we have here are C180K, C200K a few C230K and only 1 or 2 C240's. And all these vehicles perform good, even the C180K

The USDM C230K was more powerful than the C200K in ROW.. not sure how you figure underpowered.

C200 spec is the same worldwide.

C230 spec is equally the same. When the C230 nomenclature is used it means the 1800 M271 has a larger blower & more aggressive ECU tune.

In the USA they did not sell cars in C200 trim - only C230. In ROW the sedans were all C200 whereas the Coupe was available as a C230.

All these comments apply to M271 engined cars - not older M111 powered cars where nomenclature reflected capacity.

Your engine is a 1796cc with Kompressor. Output 120 kW at 5500 RPM. Torque 240 Nm between 3000 & 4000 RPM. Acceleration 0 - 100 km/h (S mode - Auto) 9.1 secs.

9.1 sec no way

8.2 is my time

Even with 9.1 it's still faster than those stats mentioned above that's means engine powers differs from one country to other

The engine power does not vary by country. I have explained the different states of tune available. The slower times mentioned above are for the station wagon because it is heavier. A C200K is a C200K worldwide. Even a manual C200K will only do 8.2 down a mine shaft.

These are the M271 engines as fitted to the W203

Now we have in addition fitted to the W204 & other models:

* 1.6 L (1597 cc) supercharged - fitted to Blue Efficiency models

& the * 1.8 L (1796 cc) turbo - fitted to some new 2012 models

W203 - M271

I think so too because i was told MB in every region had different power outputs on the models produced. Some models were not available to the US as well. But i am only familiar with the gulf spec and japanese spec W203 and when compared to the US spec it was a bit different but not by much.

I beg to differ there chap. Its different in performance, and yes the US doesnt sell 180s or 200s. Here they dont sell 280s or 320s. The power output wont vary by much i suppose. And again the w203s here are reasonably powered and the only 203 which falls into the 8.8 sec category is the C180K
