First time posting : C230K coupe questions

Hi guys,

A friend of me is in the market for a new car ...

One of the cars he's looking to is the C230K coupe.

As I know it come stock with 189HP, what performance modifications are available for this engine ?

Is there any chip ? What are the gains ?

Also, what are the changes for 2004 ?

Thanks in advanced !

The C230 for 2003 has no significant performance mods available for it and none in the pipeline. If he truly wants to be one of the fastest and best handling cars on the road he should be looking at the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo for about the same money.

Buell,
Or he can get a 2003 C230K with a 6 speed and just the C7 wheel package. At $21,900 there is alot of extra money that could lead to a mini C32.

The full C32 brake package $700 front, $600 rear.
Full cat back exhaust with better muffler $700-900
Power chip $840
K&N air filter $43
Eibach springs $330
AMG sway bars $150
A mister/CO2 injector for the IC
Total still less than the list price of $25,000!!!

The C7 package will not be available as an option for 2004. It will be standard equipment.

MB just does not get it. There are actually americans who are happy with the 16 inch wheels.

What they need is a factory in dash CD player. Even the cheap Korean cars have them.

More style, the Sentra has a nice style package on a $10,000 car.

They put out the AMG Coupe Diesel in Europe with a nice style package. I would have paid a grand more for it and the AMG brakes.

Come on MB, you all ready make the Coupe hot, just import it with a gas engine.

It should have been since day one. Nice to see MB is paying some attention. Now they need to up the power of the 1.8, add a standard CD player, adopt the C32/C30AMG Coupes front and rear fascias!!!

I'd trade mine in for that last part Although it would be the V6 this time...the 1.8 doesn't have that same any RPM grunt the old 2.3 did.

Yeah, I think making C7 standard is a mistake also. There are some people (probably not on this board) who just don't want 17" wheels. They are not good in bad weather. They wear quickly. They make for a harsher ride. 16's should still be an option.

MB is getting rid of the C320 4-matic sport sedan because many people don't want the combination of 4-matic and C7 wheels. One of them helps you in the snow, while the other one hurts you. Apparently there have been some complaints, and this model is supposed to be gone for 2004.

I too do not like the Evolution 17 inch wheels. If we had them we'd cringe every time it hits a pothole (55 series is low enough for us, thank you very much).

Besides, my 77.5 year old Dad (the car's main driver) did not like the look of the seven spoke wheels. He prefers the 16 inchers and I agree with him, aesthetically and practically. They might last 80-10,000 km; the Evo tires would be gone in 30-40,000 and cost twice as much to replace...

I have the standard wheels and I am happy. I prefer practical (but responsive) transportation so I'm happy with all-around tires that wear well and perform in all weather conditions.

Is there a way to delete the C7 option in 2004 and save money?

I'm confused

The C230K is 1.8L or 2.3L ?

What packages do you guys have ? What's important ?

He's thinking of these packages C1, C4, C5, and C7. Also, he wants heated front seats, CD changer, and illuminated front door sills.

I went to mbusa.com and get a total price of $33,274

Do you guys think it's worth it ? I actually don't !

for 2003 models it uses the 1.8

33,274 is about right for msrp. but you can get it wayyyy below that with some good negotiation

i personally would opt for the c230 sedan

Agreed. You can probably get a deal on a car that lists for $32 in the $25-$28k range right now, including of course 4 years of maintenance.

The must-have option is definitely the Pano roof. No other cars have this feature yet (except maybe the new MB "E" - the roof is all glass - even the rear passenger gets a moon roof. Only the front opens (unless you know the secret DAS code ) but the opening is also far wider than conventional sunroofs.

Of course, that means you'd need to buy a Sport Coupe.
