2007 C230 Sunroof issue
Hey All,
Proud new owner of an MB, glad I joined your crew. I am having an issue with my sunroof when I try closing it. I need to keep the button pressed in the entire time for it to close completely. If I let go, it will reopen every third of the way.
I was told there is a way to reset the sunroof by tapping that button in a certain sequence. Does anyone know the sequence for resetting the sunroof?
Thank you in advance,
JBells

Sounds like you may need to clean and lube your sunroof tracks. There are places that sell the lube parted-out, I think about $12 shipped. A quick Google search will find the DIY (maybe in the E-class forums).
If that doesn't work, check the tracks for damage, and prepare for
from your dealer. Good luck, and let us know how it turned out.

Step 1, clean and lube the tracks. This fixes the problem for the vast majority of cars. If that does not work, step 2 is to reset open/close data via STAR diagnostic. If that doesn't do it, step 3, is to change the force/current setting via STAR diagnostic.

I have the exact problem on my 2007 C280 and so far have just been closing it by holding the button down. I plan to try any of the suggestions made but I'm not real optimistic that lubing it will make any difference because I've noticed that even if I 'help' it close by lightly pushing on it, it still opens back up a third or so. But I hope to be proven wrong......
I have tried resyncing it according to the instructions in the manual and that hasn't made a difference.

I have the same issue. Did a resync and it worked for a few hours now back again. Off to dealer for me.

The manual re-sync that is described in the manual rarely works, and if it does, it only lasts for a short while. Re-sync via STAR works and lasts a long time if you keep the tracks and seals cleaned and lubricated. Since re-syncing and setting a higher current limit on mine over a year ago, and it still works perfectly.

Well, looks like its fine again. The [non MB] dealer sprayed some Wurth saBesto HSS 2000 to lubricate the sliders and its works a treat again. I asked him if its safe to put whatever this stuff is on rubber and if it will rust/damage the area. He says its all good. See how it goes from here.
