high mileage c320?
Hi guys, I'm planning on buying a clk320 with over 100000 miles. There arent many people with clks that went over that mark.Since c320 and clk320 are pretty much the same, I was wondering how reliable are c320's after 100000 miles? Thanks

Almost 138k miles right now - no major mechanical issues with basic drivetrain care. I do have some minor electrical issues, but nothing TERRIBLE.
Worst thing I had was my fuel pump going out about 10k miles ago...

My c320 is driven hard every day and has 161k on it just do basic maintenance and you should be good.
But honestly can you afford to fix something if it breaks? don't want to call you out or anything but buying any Mercedes let alone one with 100k + on it on a tight budget is not a good idea. luckily for me my car has been supper reliable but i still keep about 2k in cash ready to go if something were to break. I would recommend that if you buy the car to put away a least 1k as a repair fund for the what if. So when buying the car add on that to the total cost. all that said if the car looks good and has good maintenance records go for it not a bad car at all. BTW what year is it?

Make sure you get a pre-purchase inspection before you buy. At 100K miles it is due for a major service if it hasn't already been done. You should take the cost of the 100K service into account for the purchase price. Mine has 173xxx miles and been pretty reliable, but there are known electrical issues with these cars that can be a headache.

2003 clk 320 with 117xxx miles on the clock. He's got maintenance records from the when he got the car. The only thing that doesn't always work is the headrest adjustment button for the driver. And luckily I'm an electrical engineer and have access to vagcom so Im pretty sure I can take care of electrical problems fairly easy.
As for the budget I'm not on a tight budget, just looking for something reasonably reliable for the next 2 years(going back to finish engineering).

Does anyone know if the clk had the same issue with radiators as the w203? The w203s that had valeo radiators around 02-03 had an issue where it would leak coolant into the transmission fluid. If you like the car and it looks/drives good and the only issues is a stupid headrest adjuster i would honestly say go for it. The switch probably just needs a cleaning i have heard of this issue on the w203s. How long has this guy had the car? I would go through all the records to see if you notice anything bad just to be safe. see if you can find anything on if the transmission has been flushed/ serviced. If it has not then i would do a full 12-14 quart flush and filter change. keep us updated always nice to see a member get a new car even if it is a clk

Rad has been replaced with a behr(?) one. It shifted smooth thru all the gears, no rough idle or jerkiness or anything. Had it checked by a mechanic, everything good, no trouble codes on the computer. I'm still having second thoughts though, the guy is selling me the car for 10grand. And here in vancouver(canada), the cheapest one i was able to find was 14000...
I did a carfax and lien check as well, all came out clean. But damn this deal feels too good to be true.

if he changed the radiator, you should be fine. mine is around 88k and no major problems as of yet. keep in mind at 100k, you should look into changing the sparks and motor mounts.
also check when he changed the rad. the tranny flush should be done at every 50k but merc recommends every 100k. preventative maintenance is key for long life of the car.
other than that, the clk is a beautiful and stylish car to own and drive. love it everyday i drive the car.
