Strange RPM problem
So today on my drive home from work something felt different. I noticed that my car's RPMs were much higher than they ought to be. Normally it functions close to 3K at 75-80 mph but for some reason it was hitting 4.5K at 70 mph fluctuating higher as i increased my speed.
As I exited the freeway and hit a stop light, there was a delay from when i pressed the gas pedal to when the car actually moved. Almost like driving a manual car switching from neutral to 1st. After dropping my coworker off and getting back on the freeway, my car was doing 40 mph hitting 6K rpm. After a few choice swear words, i exited the freeway, stopped at a gas station and turned the car off. I turned the car back on, wanting to see if the delay was still there from a stopped position and everything was functioning normally. I got back on the freeway and drove home at my normal speed and RPM.

Has anyone encountered this problem? If so, how can i fix it? It feels like my car wasn't switching gears properly.

Before we start getting worried. It might just be TCU brain fade & a reboot by restarting fixed the glitch. Make sure that the transmission fluid level is correct. Has the transmission had it's 39K fluid & filter changes? Sorry - you do not state mileage. Was the transmission changing up to top gear? Count the changes if it does it again. Otherwise it might have been the torque converter not partially locking up or partially stalling.
Presume your car has the 722.9 7 speed? Do you know if it has the latest sofware flash?

Don't know if this is even remotely relevant but the sneaky ECU reset could possibly work. Again just my $.02, I have the 6 speed so cant speak for the auto. Hope you figure out the problem! keep us updated.

I actually had the transmission flushed about a month ago with the filter changes. I'm at about 93K miles. Now Im wondering if they didn't fill it properly. From my research It seems as though my year doesn't have a dipstick to check for the fluid. Is there a way around this? As far as i know nothing has been done to the software... To be honest i didn't even know that it could be upgraded.
I drove it to work today, with the intention of taking it to the dealership for look for the problem. My baby didn't have any problems on the way up. Maybe it was just a glitch like you all say. Ill definitely keep an eye on it.
On a separate note... my car seems to register that my passenger side door is open, even if it is not. I keep getting warning messages when i drive. I am able to lock it, but this problem wont let me arm my alarm when i leave the car. Think the problem is related to the software as well?

So i bit the bullet and took the car to the MB dealership to diagnose the RPM problem. They said they got an error code in the Trans Turbine Speed Sensor. It would cost about 1600 to repair. Since it only happened once I told them i would just keep an eye on it to see if it would get any worse.

This is a fairly frequent false code. However this was also a known problem in early 722.9 transmissions. Just keep & eye on it.

you might have had the car in a automanual (like when you move it left or right while in D) gear instead of being in drive. happened with my mom in her sl600 :p she didnt know it did that.
