Help choosing between C230 sedan or C240 sedan (more)

Hi all,

I'm really close in purchasing W203, now I need to choose between C230 and C240. I did my hw, and it appears that C230 has a better acceleration than C240 due to the help of supercharger.

Now, my question is that, if I take the resale value as a consideration, should I go with C240 because more people love V6 than the I4 on C230 sedan; hence, better resale value for C240?

Any help will be greatly appreciated...

ps. both cars will be an auto

C230. No question. The difference in resale wouldn't equate to the difference in performance/happiness, for me.

no-brainer

The 4 cylinder version is superior to the V6 in every respect. Buy it.

I don't know where you live, but in Canada, the base C240 looks like crap with the black plastic handles. Yeah, I have 'em on my Coupe too, but, well, I'm stupid for not getting the Evolution package and I beat myself everyday I see those ugly 16" wheels

Anyways, with the C230 sedan, it comes with the sport package so it has body coloured handles, whereas the C240 doesn't! And it's only a tad more than the C240, along with more horsepower, nicer wheels, and the aforementioned body colour door handles, much better deal IMO.

C230 all the way!

C230 costs less than C240, has more power, and downright looks better. If you can live without the wood trim inside (I like the aluminum finisher better), go with the C230. It will ride better and handle better as well. Because this is a new model, I 'm not sure how well resale can be judged. I know dealers are having a hard time selling C240's now that the C230s are out. You can't find a better value/dollar combo in it's segment. Go for the C230! ( I may be a little biased if you read my sig)

Re: C230 all the way!

ffejalink: how much did you pay for your C230 (along with the the option of your choice)?

I'm thinking to choose C2, C4, and auto

Too much, after reading these posts. My dealer won't budge on price, *******s!

I got $500 off MSRP plus additional $1,000 off for the coupon on my ML. No great deal. I also got a 6-speed instead of the auto. Although I'm stuck in traffic often, the auto just doesn't have enough "go" for me. It's fine to rev up in 2nd with touch-shift, but I found 1st to be granny gear.

C2 is a must and I wouldn't ever pass up xenons (C4). If you're not going to upgrade sound system using aftermarket parts, I'd get the Bose upgrade. IMO, If you like music with loud base, Id' pass and spend the money at a stereo shop.

ffejalink: I'm guessing is because the C230 sedan is considered "new" so your dealer (or any other stealer) didn't budge on the price. Come to think of it, I might be end up with similar situation like yours. And, I guess that explain on why my dealer is so eager to give me a nice discount over C240.

If the stealer willing to go as far as $2G off MSRP I might be interested in C320. Lemme see if I can negotiate more with the stealer....

They refuse to deal on any special order car. If I wanted a bright red one with C2 only, I could've paid 28k even. Too bad bright red doesn't match my driving style (especially after trying to sideswipe a sherrif (who doesn't know how to use a turn signal) this morning). Dealer has great service dept and they give me a demo while my car's in service instead of a car from the loaner fleet or enterprise. yay! Guess it has it's perks.

They should be more willing to deal on a special order car because that means as soon as they get it in it's off their lot. In addition the dealer gets the holdback from the bank.

If they are not the only ones around I would def get it from another place.

I also say go for the C230. I am NOT a fan of the 17" wheels, primarily because I don't think they're as practical as the normal 16" tires, which wear longer and there's less chance of bending a rim. I wish the C230 came with 17" wheels as an option, not as an included feature.

But then, I don't pay extra for "performance" skis, or "performance" mountain bikes. To each his own.

But yea - don't even think of the C240. I drove it as a loaner and it's underpowered. Smooth, but not enough power for my taste.
