Why Must It Take So Long (can't post)

I must admire all you guys' patience. When I first went into the dealer to find out about the car (c-coupe) in Nov., salesman told me that there could be a 2 to 4 month wait if I make a special order with the options that I wanted. But he also told me that there was two coupe (magma red and orion blue) on the boat, that are coming to this dealer. So guess what? I bought the Orion blue one on Nov. 4th and took the deliver on Nov. 12th.
Let me tell you, that 8 days of waiting period seemed sooooo long. My pain wasn't as big as what you guys are going through, but just hang in there.....it's well worth it.

Cool There are quite a few of us waiting

Ordered mine the first of September and it is supposed to hit the beach on March 6th. Dealer says it usually take 10 days to get through customs have the port installed stuff done, transported to the dealership and then a day for them to turn it around. Can’t believe I will have waited six months for a car. Although the process of having exactly what you want built for you is one that I could get used to. Only one more month.... "Only"

I stopped by the dealer test drove the coupe and drove it home the same day. Otherwise I probably would have bought a different car.

Must be my ADD

Mine has a B5 code which means production complete. Anyone know how long that translates into pick up time?

Delivery to LA port.

D2 Surveyed at VPC
D3 Potential Delay
D4 Ready to Deliver

Did you find this out by asking the dealer or is it possible to track this yourself?

Thanks

I tracked it myself by emailing my dealer who usually emails back within the hour.

2002 C230K 120K Miles Just as good as new
It's well worth the wait. I just got mine last night after waiting since November 2001. It is a C230K, Orion Blue, Charcoal Leather, C2 and K2a, 6-speed.

It's terrific! I didn't realize just how large it feels inside. I'm getting used to the transmission and visibility. I even got the ESP to flash at me this morning while getting off of the freeway.

The only bad part of the purchase process was when I went to pay for the car. The "finance officer" was putting on a high pressure sales pitch for "Sealants" and lo-jack. I already had financing, and a large down payment, so that part should have been simple, but it was very irritating.

I'm happy now, though, because the car exceeds my expectations, and I haven't even driven it 50 miles yet.

Thanks everyone for your contributions to this forum,
