B service

My '07 C230 is coming due for 'B' service in about 1,000 miles. Does anyone know what this service includes? About how much does it cost?

few filters that they may or maynot change, wipers that they may or may not change, some chassic lube, oil change, and a look over of the car

estimates on brake life, i dont believe they do proper checks of measurements cuz i took my car to 3 diff dealers for service and got 3 answers...

and a 350$ bill

Wow. Sounds like $350 for them to do nothing much more than give the car a 'lookover'. Awesome.

They do top off the battery. That distilled water is damn expensive!

Service A & B are a total ripoff unless you're still under warranty. If you are, then it may make sense to keep doing it through them, for ease of warranty protection, imho. Otherwise, just do what you can yourself, and go to an indy for the rest.

Because it would be more easy to prove everything, that's all. Yes, they should cover you unless they can prove that the problem was caused by a non-MB tech. But yes, you'd have to take them to court to get the issue resolved if they were *****s about it.

Yeah just save receipts for oil and filters and any other maintenance and you should be fine. I would recommend finding either a good indy or just do the oil change at the dealer most dealers have a 89.99-99.99 special where they change the oil and filter. Then you can do the normal check of everything at home and not get messy. This is what I do a lot just for convenience. But if you find mobil 1 0w40 on sale for a good price then sometimes it is worth it. Awhile back it was on sale for 3.99 a quart and then just buy the filter from somewhere (the polyester not the paper if available for you model)

My services A or B every 12-14k consists of a reset on the trip to the dealership lol. 200+ for an oil change or 200$-300 to change spark plugs.. Ya, right... After these forums.. I'm never taking it back, unless it's for S/C or something I won't be able to myself.

Trey - a dealer in my area has a $95.00 oil change special as you mention. It's still a problem - in addition to the 150 mile round trip and $95 still being $30 more than I pay - because it seems dealers think 229.51 oil is just fine to slap in our cars. 229.51 is the diesel approval, not approved for gasoline engines that need 229.5. Personally, if I'm going to run the extended intervals (and you know I do!) I'm going to give the car exactly what it calls for. Analysis shows I'm doing right by mine.

True that is an issue I found in some dealers. You have to be careful I did have a dealer do that to me but I went to another and they use the right stuff.
