Fuel Filter Question

Why does the fuel filter have 4 hoses going into?

Trying to diagnose a problem with my C230 not pulling the fuel out of half the tank and want to rule out the fuel filter.

-thanks

dont rule out the fuel filter, thats what allows the fuel to return to the tank and keep the right pump chamber flooded with fuel, but it will only function as designed if your fuel pump is capable of delivering max fuel pressure of around 6 bar. your filter has an inlet line from the tank an outlet to the rail, a return to the fuel tank and a breather

If you're near 60k miles, I'd replace it. Crazy what difference you may find with the new one.

+1 & use a genuine Mahle-Knecht. We have had a number of aftermarket filters with the built-in pressure regulator way out of calibration or ineffective.

If all the transfer hoses are OK/clear then it sounds like it's pump time. Just curious.....running out of gas when gauge shows fuel remaining?

I would agree - I think it's pump time.
