Glyn's New Toy - plus some dealership pics
Took the plunge. Here is my new 9806 mile, late 2009 CLK 350 Coupe Elegance. Iridium Silver with Basalt Grey leather & Dark Ash wood straight from the owner prior to the dealer detailing etc. Owned by an exec who is emigrating to Australia/business relocation. Got them to make me whole on the 6 year 120,000 Km Mobilo Drive plan so I have peace of mind for the next 6 years.
Has some nice features like Comand/Nav, BiX, Parktronic, Harman Kardon Premium Sound, 6 CD/DVD stacker with mp3 capability, Seatbelt Presenters, Tint/Safety Film, Memory seats, Auto dipping mirrors, Folding side mirrors, Rain Sensor, Thermotronic sun sensing HVAC, TPS, Bluetooth, Phone provision, Hard drive storage, Heated Seats, Cornering lights & Neck Pro etc.
Going for her 103 point check, detailing & Auto Armor, tiny dent repair drivers door, new Michelin PS2's, mud flaps, registration etc. on Monday. Hope to have her late in the week. She drives beautifully, M272 silent & 722.9 ultra smooth & well behaved. Wish me luck! Expensive as hell here. New price as spec'ed in SA was US$100K. Twice the US base price. You guys are so lucky.
I will not be leaving the W203 forum. It's my home & the CLK is built on a heavily modified W203 platform anyway.
The C240 is going to a good home with a friend that has waited 8 years for her.
Some poor pics.

Beautiful pick up Glyn
All the bells and whistles included
Only thing is those rims lol
Going /////AMG rims on her or something ?
By all means not bad rims but I don't feel the flow with the car
But overall I congratulate you on the new toy

Very nice, Glyn!! I know you'll enjoy it. Don't forget to tell us all about it after you've driven it for a while - you know, just to make us feel jealous !!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!

I nearly bought an SLK55 but could not tolerate the creaks & groans. Also felt it was not practical & chewed too much juice in SA where gas is expensive. I have to admit a love affair with the 55 engine. It's fabulous but I immediately become a hooligan behind the wheel. Not good

Glyn, fantastic car. Your making me want to upgrade now :-)
I'm trying to convince a friend of mine to buy a CLK. He was headhunted from Melbourne by BHP and now he's in Perth on a huge salary and paying the government much too much tax. I'm trying to talk him out of buying a crysler crossfire into a CLK salary sacrificed. He is a big Benz fan and I don't know why he likes those crossfires so much.
Your clk does look super! Once you get them AMG wheels on it will certainly look the part.
I hope you do never leave the w203 forum, just hover in from the CLK section every now and then :-)

Thanks Frank. At least someone else took the initial depreciation!
Thanks Trey - Yeah - I was going to build one of these without the F1 crap on it. But sanity prevailed - I have a Jag to finish. SLK is not a daily driver - it's a fun thing.

When I was 16 my dad (who is awesome) let me drive his 06 Slk 55 AMG anytime I wanted. I put more miles on that car then him lol. Hell I even drove it with the top down in a snow storm on a highway for an hour and got pulled over because the cop thought I was on something. One day when I have some money for a extra car that is not practical in any way I plane to find one. I know it is not the best car and the handling is not the best (chassis flex) I don't care one bit the noise it made and the speed is all that matters. I also become a crazy person when I drove that car.
Congratulations Glyn on the new car I have always liked the w209's as long as they have all the options.

Glyn don't show me pictures it puts bad ideas into my head. I first find a nice one and then come up with how I can take money out of one of my investment accounts and create a working budget to buy one. BTW I found an 06 with every option and red seats
