It looks like a grill badge that you sometimes see on older Mercedes. These were simple badges that you'd attach to your grill to show membership in a club, country of origin, etc. I don't think it's a piece off of a production AMG. It could also be an aftermarket replacement flat badge for the hood ornament.

I have an AMG badge that I took off years ago and replaced with the "night" version shown further above.

IMO, the AMG logo is to busy to be mounted externally in a small area. Same with the wheel center caps. The traditional Mercedes badge looks much cleaner.

100% AGREE!!!!!!

I do not believe I have ever seen a brand new AMG Mercedes with this badge on it, I think it is always the Original Benz Star Logo.

Perhaps it is an Aftermarket item which peeps think is cool? I personally think of it as quite the opposite and don’t think it looks good at all.
