Angry LOL. So my battery died one day after service

Well today I was driving the car. Got home, tried to start to car again to go out and wouldn't start. I'm currently waiting for my gratis breakdown assist so I can get the car started and drive to Mercedes Benz do do a $675 battery repair. They can do it for me this afternoon which is good.

Yesterday during the service Mercedes suggested my battery need be replaced. Well as a coincidence the car wont start a day later. I wanted to wait until the new year to look into it further but I guess I need a new one now. All the independents in Perth are closed until next year so I have not choice but to go to Mercedes for a genuine MB battery.

Currently waiting at home for breakdown assist to arrive.

Perhaps you should try MB roadside assist like what the others was saying on your other post. Can't hurt since it is a mercedes battery and besides they only charge for the battery and not the labor.

Worth a shot.

Please don't pay $675 for a battery. Surely the battery shops are open.

Try this site:- http://www.fridge-and-solar.net/batteries.htm

http://www.goodchild.com.au/ Perth Company.

They sell MB batteries . Mine is a Varta!

Sydney had a call out battery service called "White Knights"

The dealer call out cost on a new genuine 100Ah Benz battery in SA is 243 AUD. fitted wherever you are stuck!

Your guys are being ugly on pricing. I know that labour rates in Aus are steep to the degree of chasing everybody from the marine industry to Qantas offshore for servicing but this is madness.

I just paid it. Getting it done quickly was important and Mercedes did it within the hour. I tried all the Benz specialist and ALL were on holidays. Maybe I'm a sucker but they could do it there and then so I can be on my way. I did ask the (non-MB) roadside assist to check if it was the actual battery that was faulty, and they confirmed it. Just bad luck I guess. I wanted to wait until next week but fate had other ideas. At least the leasing tax deductions will pickup some of the bill.

I didn't see the sites you posted unfortunately before I got it done.

The other work I will get done by the Jaguar dealer I bought the car from. I'll keep Mercedes, like Glyn suggested, for the big service items I need them for, the rest I'll ask the Jaguar dealer to do using genuine parts. I know they will tell me more honestly if they think I should get items done via Mercedes. Like the camber kit, they suggested I get it done by Mercedes because they had never done it before... rather than take my money. Wish I had a relationship like this with a Mercedes dealer.

Tried it, but it would have cost me a little more. RAC could have sold me a battery for $250ish, but it would not have been a Benz battery. My warranty tells me that I need to have dealer recommended parts so I thought it best just to get the Benz battery.

I also got some entertainment out of the situation whilst waiting at the dealer for an hour; observing at the table next to me an elderly couple and their son haggling with the dealer over an $90k Mercedes. The salesman did a good job of getting the son on his side. So when the mother and father were trying to negotiate, the son kept taking the dealers side. Quite funny. In the Godfather family, he'd be sleeping with the fishes lol. I never got to see end result.

Also witnessed a lady take delivery of her brand new C200 in black. They had a little show for her, they had the car in the showroom under a cloth and did an unveiling. She also got a certificate with her car. Like an award ceremony. The lady was so happy and was yelling with joy. Then the salesman spent about 1 hour with her (I was only there an hour and the unveiling started then) showing her how to use the car. I had a chin-wag with the sales chap after (he took me for a spin the the E coupe yesterday) and he said it was her 2nd C Class. The first was in an accident and the car saved her life (maybe a bit of salesmanship there but I do admit the Benz are a safe car).

If it makes you feel better, no one has a relationship like that with a Mercedes dealer.

At least it's fixed and you can move on with your other maintenance.

Yes, ouch. I'll just have to put that Rolex watch on-hold for a while longer... I was hoping to buy a pre-owned Explorer II from a collector but will wait a little longer. Watches are my hobby.

Sorry about your battery failing and the price you paid to replace it !

Watches... I have a few nice ones that have been handed down to me. Unfortunately, none of them keep good time on me (Rolex, Lord Elgin, Patek Philippe - it doesn't matter). I wear a black plastic Casio Data Bank watch. It wakes me in the morning, reminds me of appointments, and phone numbers. I guess we're showing our age (I am, at least) with our reliance on watches. I probably should rely more on my cell phone but I forget to carry it too often!

I have a Submariner black with Ceramic bezel, GMT II red/blue, Daytona gold/black, a few TAG's & Seiko's. Nothing too spectacular but I do love the things.

Wow that is quite a line-up. Daytona is very nice, but out of my budget... or should I rather say the wife would never understand. Explorer II for me in white as my next, its a bit different the Sub and I already have 2 diver watches from OMEGA.

IWC is the real Mercedes watch Some of the S Class (I think maybe AMG) come with an IWC clock.

I have the Pilot. Not the most sought after IWC movement, but actually my personal favourite design. Because I collect, I buy pre-loved from fellow collectors. Makes more sense dollar wise and I don't loose if I want to sell or trade up. But the IWC I purchased brand new from a dealer in Amsterdam who saved me $2500 on the retail price here in AUD.

Yet to purchase a Rolex. I have a few more OMEGA watches.

The 42mm Exp II? I tried it on when I was buying my GMT-IIc and I liked it a lot. But I still went with the GMT

There's one positive to all this. The Mercedes dealer does have very good customer service and followup. I received a phone call the day after to see how things were going and a nice email too. Plus when I was there they did look after me with drinks, a TV room etc. But on the flip-side, the money we paid at a dealership, I would expect nothing less.

Haha lol. I wouldn't call em *******s, they are just doing thier job. People pay this kind of money every day. But I'll be going to an independent unless it's something MB must do from now on. Just a pity they were ALL on holidays when I needed the battery.

12 year old soda no thanks :-). Cause the giving me scotch would be illegal here in Australia. We also have strickt alcohols laws.
