C230 Coupe was disappointing to drive
Just wanted to share my opinion about the C230 coupe. Before I begin I am sure this thread will **** off and anger some people. Please keep in mind before you get angry and want to post hate replies that I am not attacking any of you individually. I am just expressing my views on this car. I currently own a C240 and love it. I had to take my car in for service and they gave me a C230 coupe for a loaner. I think the car sucks flat out. Its small, the panaramic sun roof "not sure how to spell it" is not worth the money. The seats are not that comfortable. By the way, I have still not been able to figure out how you can push the back portion of the seat to the front or to the back. It seems like there is only one movement to the seat and that is either up or down but no way to move the back portion by its self. I cant even figure out how to open the freaken trunk. The key does not have a trunk release nor could I find one in the car. The only thing I liked was the engine. It picked up quicker than my C240 but for a sticker of 28k I was extremely disappointed. Again this is just my opinion and nothing towards anyone in here.
By the way, if any one can tell me please how you can open the trunk I would appreciate it. Its getting to me that a Benz that's worth 28k does not even have a release for the hatch back.

It doesn't have a release because it doesn't open on its own. Since you would have to lift the hatch even if you could release it, they just make it so you have to pull the handle on the hatch. Did you find the handle, or can you not open it at all? If it's the latter, the handle is above the license plate. Pull it towards you.

Wow, looks like someone need to look around a bit. First of all, let me advice that you spend at least some driving time before comenting. The seat adjustment is located beetween the seat back and the center console (at your right side, look at the side of the seat if you're the drive). OMG OMG I found the seat knob. About the trunk, there's a handle that lets you open it over the rear lisence plate. Third of all, if the hatch has a trunk release button, it will smack into a lower ceiling. I think the seats in the coupe and the sedan are exactly the same.

I have never encountered one time since I own the car that a trunk pop from the inside would be useful since the handle is easy to use and it right there.

Actually, MY coupe IS probably worth about 17k right now, but the sedan isn't worth 10k more. I would take my engine over yours, but I would only take your 4 doors if I needed it, which I don't.

woops. Anyway, I appriciate your opinion. Just having a bad day. I believe you have your reasons buying the sedan and we have our own reasons buying the coupe. They're both great cars.

Yeah I guess I am a little pissed off why they ran out of the C240s at the dealership The C230 performs well but I just don't think the price is worth it. By the way I still can not find the handle that someone was talking about to my right. I looked every where.

I really don't care to help spur the war or whatever, but IMO the 240 is the biggest waste of $.
Ok, so here is the breakdown:
Coupe - Pano Roof option, small, sporty, faster
Sedan - Basic Moon Roof, slow, bare-bones, basic luxury.
Go test drive a 320 Sedan, it will make your 240 look like a honda. The fake leather, half power seats, basic A/C, etc...
I personally hate our 320 mainly because of the engine, but I think the 240 is 100xs worse. Man, the pickup is awful!
The coupe fits a certain market, and IMO the 240 is the sedan for the people who could not afford the 320.
Now, the 230 Sedan is for people who want a sportier sedan.
Judging by your comments IMO you did want to start a flame war, hopefully this post isn't viewed as helping you in that direction.

yes the knob is there. If you look at the vertical part of the seat, you'll find the knob between the vertical part and the center console that you can lift up (the one that has two compartments or should I say arm rest, the one behind the shifter?) Every manual seated C class has this knob. It's a little tucked away and it's a little to the bottom. Exactly beetween the seat and the arm rest in the middle of the two seats. If you can't find this, get a horse eyeglasses.

Don't know how you can say the panoramic roof isn't worth the money... you're the first person I know thats complained about it and it cost just as much as the C2 package for the C240 that comes with the normal moonroof... if theres one thing I love about the car is the pano roof...

I bought a C240 after looking at the coupe as well. I didn't like the coupe either. It just wasn't my cup of tea. I bought the C240 for a couple of reasons. I need 4 doors, i like the wood grain and not the aluminum, I really wasn't looking for speed, I have a sportbike for that. It really wasn't a money issue, this was my first benz and I wanted to start on a cheaper car before throwing 50 or 60 g's into a car I only test drove. This way I am in a sedan and I can see how my dealer treats me, durability of the car, etc. In a couple of years, i will get rid of this car and go to an E or S class. The coupe was alright. Personally I would buy it. I think the one I had for a loaner was a pretty basic one anyway, so I didn't judge the car totally. There were just appearence factors that weren't my taste. Either way, I see that we all bought the cars we have because we like them. We all have different reasons for the coupe vs sedan, that is what makes us all benz owners and can converse like this.
