My guess would be btw 500 to a grand to fix that. More informed members can help you but that isn't too bad, IMO.

I would say you could get away with about 300 to have it re-painted, it looks like some pretty minor damage. Quick question, what do you mean by you feel like it was your fault? Usually when you get rear ended its the other persons fault... are they paying for it or are you?

Ya I would say you could get it repainted for about $300 and it shouldn't take more then two days or so. Just go around to some of your local body shops and get estimates.

I would try just buffing it out, if you are wanting to be a nice guy and not
just let the insurance company pay you. They'll come up with an estimate for 2 grand.
Why not just take the money?
A bumper cover if needed, can be purchased for about 350 and paint would run about
250. I did this, I backed into something, put a big square stretch mark on my bumper.
You unbolt the bumper from the trunk, and bolts inside the wheel well, and the whole thing slides off.
Then, take the bumper apart, install new cover an reverse procedure.
My paint doesn't quite match, but I accomplished the whole procedure for about the same as my $500 deductible and didn't report it.

Stop trying to be a nice guy. It's the other person's responsibility to stop in time and not run into you. Did you brake check them? Be careful with the repair cost and estimate. There's a support bar in the middle of the bumper that often gets damaged but won't be seen until the bumper cover is removed. Bumper cover damage only = $500. Bumper cover + support bar = $1200. Ask me how I know.

Depends if they are going out of pocket or through insurance. I got backed into, and got a new hood, grille, and bumper out of it. If it's through insurance get a whole new bumper. If they are paying it'd be like three to four hundred like everyone else was saying

+1 to mleskovar. I got rear-ended, and the bumper was just barely scratched. Well, when the body shop took it off that's when all the fun began

The last person to rearend me was a Hummer H3, it cost $2887 and my car was parked and she pasted out after shooting up some good morphine and slowly rolled into my car. It put a perfect square dent into my rear bumper. Ended up with new bumper bar , fastners and new bumper. This is my 3rd bumper. And everytime it has cost around $2800. Insurance took care of it, but if you want to DIY, make sure you double check your bumper bar underneath. It is made of Fiberglass and breaks easily.

When she passed out in the car and she fell out of when I open the door. Police came and picked her up in cuffs.

You will notice it says CLK 320.. that was a lame body shop my insurance picked for me when I had my rear bumper and trunk replaced on my 2nd Rear bumper accident a month earlier, but I bought it back to them and made them fix it all and told them how i wanted it fix.

Do you know an indy body work shop in the area? I had a similar issue a few years ago--the well known shops wanted $1500 (insurance pays), but the local indy shop wanted $500. Shop around and ask around for some locally owned, non-chain body shops and I bet you can get this taken care of for a reasonable price.
