Driver's power seat problem
Hello everyone,
every once in a while, the driver's side power seat won't function at all and i had to trial & error the keys, doors & buttons for 10+ min to get it to work again.
i'm thinking this may have caused by setting the easy exit option. i now disabled easy exit (seat) option and still had a problem once.
does anyone know what causes this?
is it electrical problem?
do i need to take it to the dealer to get it fixed or is this something that i have to live with?
ur experience is greatly appreciated.
thx.

Don't know if this will prove useful, but I had a situation recently where my easy exit settings were malfunctioning.
With the engine running and using the buttons on the door, I moved the driver's seat all the way back and held the button there for a few seconds. Then, again using the door buttons, I moved the seat all the way up and held it for a few seconds. This is similar to the way one might reset the power windows.
I then held the memory button down which corresponded to my personal preference. The car was then turned off and upon opening the door, the exit system functioned normally. Haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps.

I've experienced a similar problem twice. Both the seat and steering wheel buttons would not work. I had the "easy exit" setting for the steering wheel only turned on. After the two incidences, I turned the "easy exit" setting off, so I wouldn't be stuck with the steering wheel all the way up. Like you, the buttons mysteriously started working a few minutes later. I'm afraid it is one of those sporatic electrical "gremlins" the dealer will not be able to find until it starts happening all the time.

hello jim,
i guess you had same problem i encountered.
next time this happens, i'm gonna drive directly to the dealer and show the problem as it (only if i could drive with seat all the way back and steering at top). it's hard to prove to the dealer about this mysterious problem.

Fortunately they had that part in stock, albeit it was for another customer, heh, and replaced it immediately. That way I wouldn't have to wait for it to be ordered from Germany (which would've taken a few weeks). No problem since.
We surmised that it was partly to do with the change that they made to the steering column controls, moving it to the steering column itself rather than the door. They had never seen the problem prior to '03; I have an early build '03 C320 4matic. First one in Western Canada.
