Does your spouse or GF not "get it"?
Do they get what your car means to you?
My wife used my car the other day. I'm washing it this weekend and see where she scraped a yellow curb, as the wheel still has the yellow painted embedded between the rubber and the rim. Needless to day the rim is scraped and there is a chunk of rubber missing. WHAT THE HELL! Did she think I wouldn't notice? AAAARRRRGGGGGG!

Same thing happened to me - so I told the wife I was replacing the wheels and she had no saying in it because she was not careful when parking. To add to that, lets just say I do most of the driving on the Benz and she drives her Scion TC to work now..

Haha. My wife got mad at me when she found out that I was lowering my car. She was like, "did you even think about me!?" And I'm like, "uhhhh no, it's my car" Granted, she will be driving it more since we're here in England but it's not like I slammed it.

She gets that I love my cars, but she also knows that it's just a car, with that said, she has curbed 4 wheels to date on 3 different cars and bottomed out countless times on the lowered ones. I just repair or replace the wheels as needed and move on. TC

I totally get "it's just a car" but I think spending thousands on new wheels is a waste of money when all that was required was paying a little attention when you drive.

My wife has never been behind the wheel of my car. She knows how **** I am and she's happy being a passenger. If her car gets washed or vaccumed guess who does it? LMAO.

2007 C230
I've offered and offered my wife to drive the C230 but she refuses. Happy to ride shotgun. She will however drive the Volvo wagon if I offer ( laundry days especially ) as the trunk on her car has a pretty high lift-over.
Wonder if it's the story about how angry I got at a friend of mine when she not only curbed my BBS wheels but also the mangled the front FOHA bumper cover on my old VW. That girl didn't get it. Should have known better as she drove a lifted CJ-7 and ran over everything.

I agree with you 1000% about being just a bit more careful, I used to always make it a point to let her know not to park too close to a curb and to slow down on driveways, but realized that it is just unnecessary stress that I am putting on her. I usually do a full detail and dent/scratch removal on all my cars annually anyways and now, at the same time I have the shop send the wheels off for repair or replacement as needed.

Girlfriend totally got it after I explained to her our obsession for our cars is like their obsession for their purses. Put their nice purse on the floor, you'll get your head chewed off. Wanna drive our cars with our obsession of them, then have the same level of respect with it. On a better note, my car is a 6speed so she can't drive it anyways

+1. Mine is reasonably careful, but not obsessive. And hers, like mine just gets any door dings removed, or anything else it needs about once a year. I can't say much since I am the one that curbed the hell out of a wheel not too long ago myself. Sometimes it just happens even when you are careful.

Haha ^ it can be tricky, i'm good about wheels i'll catch my lip on stuff now and then but my driveway is a death trap and so is Newport News where the girl lives. my old track car was reallllly low so driving the c230 is easy for now haha, not much longer once the coils come in
