what do I do NOW....NEED HELP big time

Hi Fellas,

Am in the process of changing the muffler end of my exhaust on my 02 C230. To disconnect I just hacksawed the bolts to seperate the end pipe/muffler. Now I am stuck with these almost corrded/welded bolts inside the flang on both the ends.....

How do I get these out, tried punching them out usisng a punch and hammer would not budge.....do I need to drill em out.....what are my options here.....please help...

All bolts soaked in PB blaster etc...

Some pictures attached...

What a corroded mess. I would either cut them off the pipe & try & find a suitable split flange or go to your friendly exhaust shop & let them figure out a solution. Those flanges are beyond redemption.

Jesus Christ. You're going to need a new flange, that's for sure.

Amazon.com: Walker 36130 Hardware Flange Repair Kit: Automotive Amazon.com: Walker 36130 Hardware Flange Repair Kit: Automotive

Javvy, sounds like you've got a good plan for the fix.

I would make a temporary solution and then get it down to a muffler shop.
Shouldn't cost more than $50 to do it right.

A split flange is the answer.

OK guys so I finally fixed this...you must have seen my other posts on a 1.8L exhaust v/s a 2.3L c230 exhaust. I can confidently say that they corss fit perfectly and It is working like a charm. Saved a ton by picking one up for $350 shipped from ebay and it is brand spanking new. Used a Dremel cutting wheel to cut off the old flange....

Thanks to Glyn for introducing me to the "Split Flang", pick one up from amazon the diameter was 2.5" for future refrence. Paid ~$15 and it worked like a charm. Bought some nice bolts 3/8x2.5" and a exhaust flange bolt kit from local auto store and used the springs from this kit. Attached are some pictures of the connection. Came out beautiful and better than the OE set up where it was just bolted straight through without the springs. Also, bought a new gasket from the dealer for $11...

Any question on this let me know....

Thanks to all to make this happen.....dont know where I will be without Y'ALL... a big thank you...

Thanks.

Neat job ~ I'm pleased it's sorted. Yet another use for a good old Dremel.
