My LCD display on cluster is bad. I was thinking of replacing my entire cluster assembly from a private seller (parting out his car). Will this actually fix the problem?
Also would like to know if I retain my original mileage display or whatever the replacement cluster has will be the mileage.

Out Of Control!!
Let me clarify turbo's yelling.
Do not buy a used cluster; as stated, they have issues with synching. The cost of a new cluster at a dealer is probably not worth the money, if all you have is the blank MFD in hot weather problem. I went through that because I'm **** and I love debt. The price was $1,700 from a dealer, plus they need to recode it, so throw in a couple hundred on top of that. I did get a free loaner, though.
