Will center console lid from 03 fit 05?
Hey guys,
I have an 05 C230 Sedan and the previous owner ripped the
center console lid clean off the car. Looking for a replacement
in black.
Found one from an 03, will it fit my 05?

I'm pretty sure it fits, but it opens from the front rather than the sides. I think the change was in '04. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge can give you a definitive answer.

Here is a link to a thread of a retrofit upgrade on the center console, hopefully this can help. Seems you will need a new bottom piece as well.

Yes, as long as you replace the "lid" and the lower black plastic piece as one, you can do it. I did the opposite, and had no problems. The two halves are attached at the rear to the console trim by a piano hinge. I did a full thread on the swap, if you want to search for it.

Ok, good to know that this can be done. I'd like to replace the entire centre console with an 04 - 05 simply because I hate the position of the cigarette lighter...always gets covered in spilt coffee. I don't smoke but this still drives me nuts...

find a new ashtray with the lighter in it and hook it up, problem gone, now i have 2 lighters, i use one for phone and have a spare.

Or one could suggest ER that he uses an appropriate coffee cup that has a decent lid on it that won't spill. I would never suggest that, though.

It's not my coffee cup that's the problem...
Regardless, I'm planning on a two tone interior next spring. My car has the light grey leather interior and I'd like to swap in a black dash/center console and carpets. As I'm planning on swapping the console anyway, why not upgrade to the 05.

I'm keeping an eye on local scrap yards. In the spring, I'll visit some pick and pull yards...should be able to find something. I'd rather pull the parts myself because then I'll know for sure what I'm buying - don't want broken parts.
I have to pull the dash anyway to fix my stepper motors and I bought a black DCTMS steering wheel for the car so why not do the two tone. I'm also planning on re-covering my headliner, A,B and C pillars with light grey alacantra (I'll do a write up for this)...should look mint when all done...can't wait for spring!!!
