Santa Clara, CA Tech Session! 9 lifts! Fix your own car with your fellow members!
So, hey, I got contacted by a local member phitastic, asking about doing some repairs.
I said hey why don't we go to that self repair place in Santa Clara that has 9 freakin' lifts and take over the place !!! Yeah!
So I spoke to the owner and we can get the first 2 hours for $29 buck total and 30 an hour after that. Tools and Fluida disposal included!
We might be able to get a club discount of 10% off as well on any extra hours.
So, this is the initial feeler and I know people need to order parts etc.
But have a few things to do to my car, and my girl's ML350.
phitastic wants to do a tranny flush.
What work have you been putting off? An actual photo...it's called "Pit Row". The owner is a German guy named Dennis and very cool!
All tools you need are included or use your own!
I know a guy in Los Altos who has a DAS (if I can get him to come) and
Mercedes Mechanic if I can get him to come also.
Perhaps if I we add 10-20 the price I can pay him to show up and provide advise? What does everyone think of this?
Lets say we go on a Saturday in about 3 weeks so everyone has time to order parts?
Then the only questions is, will Dennis allow us to drink beer while we work? And who's buying? German beer only!![Cheers](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/cheers.gif)
So don't miss the Norcal Mercedes event of the year!
Guess we can make it a meet and work session? Come show your car, and or work on your car!
But what to call it? Mercedes Norcal Meet and Wrench?
I Wonder if I could get a parts rep on hand to take orders for parts and deliver them?
Yeah, I'm thinking, have a Mercedes mechanic on hand, a parts rep, and a DAS.
Anyone closeby with a DAS want to volunteer?

Hmm would be interested in this. I just got a C320 and may replace the trans fluid and do the rear main seal as I hear they go out. Would be nice to have a lift for this rather than on my back in the garage...

For anyone thinking of doing a tranny flush be sure to have all your ducks inline.
Bring a couple empty gallon milk containers, mark off quart marks either before you come or with a sharpie with clean fluid one quart at a time, put the other bottle next the 1st and mark it. This is so you can measure what you take out. Mercedes fluid is is liters, Shell ATF 134 is quarts.
Also make sure you get the o rings for the tranny connection at the radiator.
I have a piece of tubing one person can borrow at a time.
Get 12 quarts ATF134 (Shell is cheapest) a new plastic piece with the orings,
a filter and gasket. A Funnel, ummmm.....what else?
Well tools are provided or use your own.
IF you haven't read through here yet, please so.

Great, thanks for the info again
do you happen to have the part number handy for the orings? I looked for 0289776248 but somehow can't find any part with that number. Oh, and how many of those are needed?
Would it make sense to attempt the aux-in soldering over there as well
?
Here is the part list I have taken down so far:
Thanks again,
Philipp

Soldering the Aux on the stock pre-2005 radio?
No...but I Can show you how to take the dash apart.
Sign up for free EPC account.
http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/
You can look up pn's and drawings.
Takes a little while to get the hang of, but basically you punch in your VIN and then you can look up any part. Finding the parts can be a challenge at times.
Remove the A prefix when pricing said parts on trademotion sites like getmercedesparts.com or parts.com
But if you look up a part without VIN and it's been superseded it will tell you that too!
Since you have different engine, those little orings might be different too!

Well, was curious about pn at least for my car.
Here's what the EPC says: A0289976248 MSRP $4.20 You only need 1 for the upper hose. But good to buy a couple spares.
Dealer will want to sell you a new red seal for the cap and oring for the cap, but you don't need those unless you want them.
Red locking clip is to keep you the owner out. Ha!

Thanks a lot for the instructions, this program is really invaluable to find the correct part numbers. I have also gained a new respect for the complexity that goes into these systems
