C240 Engine Died While Driving
I've had this problem happen twice so far (within a month apart) with similar conditions:
- after long periods of highway/freeway driving
- accelerator "loses" response
- engine shuts off
- gas gauge shows 1/4 tank
- the electrical system + AC works fine
- hours later, the car starts up fine
Work done so far:
- Dealer diagnosed as CPS the first time and swapped the part for $300-400ish
Now waiting on another dealer diagnosis, since this happened very recently.
The symptoms mimic this thread:

Culprit: fuel pump/filter?? worth the fix @ 215K KM?

Though I'd start to look around your area for an independent MB repair shop; your C240 is old enough that these repairs will come up fairly frequently now.

CPS, MAF, fuel filter, etc,... many of these fixes you could do yourself, lots of DIY info here. MAF and throttle body usually just require a good cleaning using a CRC $10 spray product. Fuel filter can get clogged over time especially if you use Petro Canada high ethanol gas.
With STAR dealer should be able to pin-point issue but your dealer is just throwing parts at the car,... at your expense! Find a good MB-indy.
Since you're in Canada, eh? with W203/CL203 and insist on dealing with dealer, sign up for Mercedes-Benz Loyalty Circle and get 20% off parts and labour:

but yeah if this happens again... i would like them to print off the codes and I will post them for you guys to check out.
I appreciate the help everyone!
hopefully my car doesn't stall and die lol
PS SunnyRay, saw your post a long time ago regarding the 20% discount and have been using it whenever i go to the dealer
- hard to find a good MB indy in London ON; with this issue - I thought the dealer would better diagnose the problem with STAR

WHAT HAPPENED??!!? My c240 is doing the SAME thing. When I first bought it, it left me stranded on the interestate twice in a week! 1/4 tank it acts like it runs out of gas, both times it happened as im driving down the interstate. I added gas and it would start up fine. My dad changed the fuel filter and got into the gas tanks to make sure everything was connected right. So far it will go down to the gas light and looks like the issue is resolved but then again Im not sure if he's run it on the interstate in the same conditions to see if it will happen again.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

Check the fuel pressure at the Schrader valve on the front fuel rail that connects the injectors. S/B > 3.8bar or 55psi while cranking.
they replaced the MAF and didn't do anything else... so far the car runs OK... but I will never drive it on the freeway again lol
i might just replace the fuel filter again just as a precaution too...
