No I walked up to it and looked at it.
You know those crystal ball things when you place your hand or finger and the electric current follows wherever your finger goes?
That was exactly what it was...did a bit of research online and apparently, the upcoming Eclipse will have the same kind of lighting.

I have tried to find more info on plasma lighting as well and I see plasma bulbs, but those seem like a marketing gimmick. They are often called xenon plasma and stuff. I cant find any info on real plasma lighting tho.

It's pointed out in one of the slide show pics...
"A perfect complement to the exposed strut tower, the Eclipse's headlight also features an eye-catching plasma light core."

Yea,
watch the streaming video, you can see the electric currents flowing thru the headlamp casing...it looks rad
wonder if it is dangerous...looks almost nuclear/radioactive rofl.

Nothing exotic there. It is just stactic electricity discharge. It made by a Van de Graff generator. Just a gimmick with no practical value. A Van de Graff generator with a clear glove was sold by Radio Shack and others as the Eye of the Storm.

according to the tech forums, those plasma headlights on the eclipse magnify the light emitted from the bulb...because of the gas trapped between the lens, so it's not just cosmetic like that.
I didn't see the headlights on the C lit so I can't say if that was true or not...or it could be like you said, just cosmetic.
