Total Electric failure when starting
Hi I have a mercedes c180 w203 petrol.
When I turn the ignition on, all the lights at the odo meter turn on (like it should do). But when I start the engine, I have a total electric failure. (no brake lights, no whiplers, no flickers, not even the ref counter is working). I noticed When I start the car, put it instantly off and start it again, that the problem is sorted out. But I can't do this every time. Think the starter will break later on.
I also changed one of the relays in the fuse box in the bonnet. But maybe changed the wrong one.. Any other suggestions that might cause this electric failure when I start the car?

Some of the symptoms are those of a failing rear SAM (the fuse box in the trunk).
So if you drive a little and then try to shut down/restart does it fail again or is it fine?

What are the battery voltages after it had sat overnight before starting, and after you shut it off following a drive?
Hmm, if you had a bad SAM the lights/wipers etc would not work all the time, so you can rule that out. But perhaps check for corrosion and loose contacts?
