Weird sound after acceleration

I just found out that my car makes weird (hard to describe) squeaky noise after accelerating a bit harder. The sound gets louder when turning the steering wheel and it can be clearly heard at idle too after heavy accelerating. I can't hear the noise at all when i'm driving calmly with no excessive accelerations. The noise also seems to be related to rpm, because it gets louder when revving. Any help is welcome since i don't have much experience with cars.

Imho, you need to take a video, capture the sound, and then post it to youtube.
It could be too many things.

It could be something as "simple" as the idler pulley or tensioner for the serpentine belt. Still, either could be $200++ to have replaced.
Or, it could be something much more costly and serious.

Sounds good!

I'm guessing it's an idler pulley or the tension. Chances are it's one of those.

But, even an ~~80% chance means there's an ~~20% chance it could be something else.
It could be a bad alternator, the air conditioner pulley, a bad timing chain, etc.

Also, what year is your car?
And what size engine does it have?

You don't have any clue where the sound is coming from?

i couldn't catch the noise on my camera but it's the exact same as in the beginning of this video. So i assume there is some problem with the power steering pump. Has anyone had similar problems? I'm going to do a little investigation under the hood and see what's going on. I'm just wondering why the noise only occurs after heavy acceleration..

That's a pretty distinct noise. there is nothing else that is going to make that sound.

I found out there is a minor leak (which i took care of) at the pipe which connects to the power steering reservoir. The reservoir was therefore almost empty and must be the reason. Happens there is no info about the right power steering oil in the guidebook, and i read that wrong oil could cause failures with the pump. Anybody got idea what kind of oil should i put in there?

Thanks RedGray! I found the exact same stuff here in Finland. The noise is gone and steering feels a lot lighter also It luckily wasn't big deal after all

I'm glad you found the problem and got it fixed!
It wasn't a big problem, because you fixed it quickly. It could have resulted in needing a new pump and rack.
Many times, they do both survived. But, neither like running without power steering fluid for a long time.
