problem with Coupe cupholder

Has anyone had this problem:

The little flip-out cup holder is broken. It is stuck in the open position. It will close but not go down in the other cupoholder so that you can close that little door. Also a small coil felt out of it, (not a spring) that has a piece of copper wrapped around it. It looks like a tensioner or something. I will have it checked out at dealer next week. This is first Mercedes I have had, it should be covered under warrenty right?

i think it should be covered, that sucks the cup holder is one of my fav things about the car, how it pops up(still amazes me, ) i hope you get it fixed. Its my first mercedes too, and i cannot believe all of the minor problems that i've had to deal with, considering its a mercedes and its luxury reputation. Oh well...

Timmy!

When you ask your dealer 'bout this, can you please ask him for the part number of the cupholder. Please! I really must have one of those, but they are not even optional in Sweden!

Thanks in advance!

People love the cup-holder when you show it to them. After showing it to them I always say, "I'm sure this is going to be the first thing to break."

Yes, it's covered under warranty. You want German over-engineering at it's limit, look no further than the cupholders in Mercedes-Benzes.

I'm with you. The cup holder MUST be the most over-engineered part of my car! Somebody had to spend weeks figuring that one out. Too bad MB didn't have that person put the window controls in a better place. Oh, and mine broke the first week I had the car. I didn't even get it fixed. It's now in the glove box......

I have the German market Zubehör (accessory) catalogue, and the part number of the said acrobatic and fragile cupholder is B6 692 0115, cost in Germany 25,00 Euros (cheap, like MAD Magazine!).

Must be made in Afghanistan at that price

Cheers

They should have had the guy doing the cupholder do the 6sp shifter instead.

Why? Then everytime you changed gears, the shifter would jam and/or break off in your hand.

Does anyone actually use the upper cup holder? It can't even hold a soda can well. I use the lower well so I know its not going to fall over.

Actually, my cupholder has been fine, but one good hit with my elbow, and it will be gone! I just wish the shifter was "German over-engineered"!
