C200K ECU/EIS/ESL help

Hi all,

I'm running into issues trying to track down compatible ECU/EIS/ESL modules for a 2002 W203 C200 Kompressor. The car has been fiddled with by the previous owner so there are doubts as to whether or not the ECU currently in the car is original. It is my belief that they have allowed water to get into the ECU, then swapped out the ECU module alone. Car shows Code "C1038 - Engine control module not identified or incorrect control module." amongst many others. Now I don't know whether the numbers on this ECU are correct for this car.

Are there any ways to get the correct numbers through the VIN? I can post the VIN and any relevant details upon request or message them privately.

Also, I would like to confirm with members of the board that the only relevant pieces I should be searching for are the EIS with key, ESL and ECU. I have been self teaching so far, so confirmation would be great. I have seen others mention that shifters need to be swapped as well as the dash cluster, but I'm not sure this is applicable for the W203 coupes.

Cheers in advance

Thanks for the reply cm60k.

The ECU I have removed from the car is listed A 111 153 30 79. I have strong doubts that this is the correct ECU though.

I think the EIS and ESL are from this car, as they still function as they should. Would it be possible to cross reference the part numbers on these to find out which ECU I need?

Thank you for confirming that they are the units I should be searching for, your help so far is greatly appreciated.

Most welcome bro.,

the part # you posted for "M111" Engine, thought you have "M271",,

do you have U.S. version..?, cause U.S. is way differ than "Euro/Japan" spec..!

you can post your VIN#, it will be more easy to figure out..

Hi cm60k,

The VIN is WDB2037452A308032

I have the M111 engine and it is an Australian delivered model as far as I can tell.

Once again, thank you very much. Your knowledge is highly valued and appreciated.

Anytime mate,,

yeah, "Aus./US./south Africa", almost the same spec., "Japan/Gulf" usually differ,,

your nice "W203 C200K" sharing Exactly the same ECU with "W210 E200K", but the difference with EIS & steering lock only,,

you are correct for sure, and these are all list you can go with:-

"026 545 48 32"
"111 153 06 79"
"111 153 11 79"
"111 153 18 79"
"111 153 26 79"
"111 153 30 79"
"111 153 35 79"

Current setup does not start the car.

That's something I'm unfamiliar with and will have to learn. Thanks for the heads up, Russell. Any relevant links/learning materials would be much appreciated.

You would need to open ecu and have a programmer to read the Flash to make it virgin,
But it can be done!

Otherwise a complete set, Ecu EIS ESL and cluster from another car.
But your car will then have the mileage value from your donor car,

Or
You need to change the km and SSID in your EIS to match the value of your original cluster

Sorry to drag the thread on, but does that mean I cannot use my original cluster without reprogramming at all?

Am I wasting my time chasing EIS/ESL/ECU/Key sets that don't come with the cluster?

I think NO need to get cluster for fire-up with "W140/W163/W202/W203/W208/W209/W210/W211/W215/W220/R170/R129"..?!?,,

as i know; "ECU/EIS/key/steering lock", these are the only things for fire-up authorization, isn't..?!?!?

Correct, you don't need the cluster to make the car start.
But if change the EIS esl you will see "---------" on your cluster
No more km display!
Then you need to modify eeprom data inside EIS to fix your km issue!
