? about the auto dim on the rear view
I was wondering if there is anyway to shut off the auto dimming of my rearview mirror. I went and tinted my windows today without even thinking about the auto dim.
is there a quick fix to this or am i going to be tint peeling in the am?

my windows are pretty dark. and if you think about it, less light will be shining thru tinted windows so the mirror wont dim as much. you get used to it. dont go cutting wires.

Steve's Window Tinting at the Benson car wash on the corner of Benson and Foothill. I've never had a problem with auto dimming and mine are pretty dark. Lifetime guarantee and it Lluminar or something like that. i guess its not supposed to turn purple or so im told.

"no, when the light from headlights behind you shine thru your rear window and hit the sensor (round circle on mirror) it basically dims more. its not how dark your car is on the inside, but how much light from a car behind you is shining on the mirror while your headlights are on."
you are correct. i got my tint as legally dark as you could get for the state of FL and my mirror still dims, just less as less light passes through the tint to the sensor in the mirror.

There is also a sensor on the front of the mirror for when light hits you from the front, on coming traffic, it makes the mirror dim less so that you can see easier out of it.

have you noticed the ball-like appendage on the hood near the vents close to the windshield, in the same area with the windshield washer fluid spray nozzles? it's like in the middle of the two nozzles. anyway, is that a sensor of any kind? i was thinking it might be for the automatic headlamps, so when it's darker outside they come on, but i wasn't sure and always curious.

That is the sensor for the climate control. It is a four zone sensor that tells the climate control where the sun is so that it can select the appropriate vents for Auto Mode depending on how the sun is hitting the car. The one in the windshield is for rain sensing wipers and also I think for the Auto Headlights. There is one in the instrument cluster as well to tell the interior lamps to turn on if it is dark enough in the car as well. And the mirror has two, one on the mirror side to dim when lights from behind hit it, and one in front to make it less dim for headlights hitting it.
