Hello everyone, first post here so I’d like to introduce myself...
I own a 2005 C55 that is quickly becoming a purpose built drift car. Without going into extreme detail, I’ve fitted Ceika coil overs, f1 fab front and rear camber/toe arms, Kmac front caster arm bushings, built custom end links to prevent them from snapping during full lock, installed hydro ebrake welded the diff, and finally, sent the ECM to vivid racing for a tune. All the while, I left the car in dyno mode to prevent the abs from getting upset. I suppose I should also mention, I have a Chrysler crossfire 6 speed swap waiting to be installed after this drift season concludes (next weekend)
fast forward to today, when my (improper) NRG wheel hub came in and I installed it. While the fitment was poor, it did go on... however, now the car is upset that it’s not seeing the steering angle sensor and it’s stuck in sport mode.
Which has led me to here. I have almost unlimited diagnostic software at my disposal (We have an active copy of DAS) however I am not very familiar with it, being that I am a VW tech at heart.
Is there a way to effectively code out, or tell the car to stop looking for, the abs module? Seeing that I’ve fitted an aftermarket wheel, I’ve also lost the ability to put it back in dyno mode should I disconnect the battery for some reason, so it’s pretty much to the point where it’s essential to remove the abs. Simply unplugging the module prevents the electronic selector module from allowing the vehicle to come out of park, so that’s kinda a non option at this point.
looking forward to hearing from fellow MB enthusiasts
C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
There probably is a way to code that stuff out, with an SDS.
So many options in there.
I thought I posted this yesterday, but just FYI was reading codes with my iCarsoft unit the other day, and
just the act of having it connected put the car into Dyno mode.
Not sure if it happened immediately or when I was reading ESP code or transmission,
but it wouldn't got off till it was disconnected..
That's what happens when you connect cheap diagnostic tools to a car. Commands are sent that shouldn't be sent. Coding gets changed without you knowing. About the ABS coding, you need to look in development data in the engine ecu ME2.8 is what you have I think. But I very much doubt you can code ABS out of it because there is not a Mercedes without ABS so there is no option to remove it.
Russell...
Doesn’t look like there’s a Mercedes with Distronic that’s not a NAG (New Automatic Gearbox)...and I have (and love) a 6 speed manual...so it turns on well at key hot - and faults out with engine on.😪
