ABSOLUTELY APPALLED by MB Build Quality as of late--look what I just noticed...

So, I've only had my car for 5 days, and I never really had a good look around it until today. What I saw just appalled me. Here's a pic...

As you can see, the left side of the hood is not aligned correctly with the rest of the car. It sits higher than the entire left side.

I'm sooooo pissed, I'm going to my dealer first thing in the morning tomorrow. I have no idea what they are going to do, and how long it will take. When I called, they were trying to imply that I got in an accident. God, this is BULL****!

The Chrylser merger was pure B.S., it improved ****ty Chrysler, but Benz went downhill... This may be the last Benz for me. BMW and Audi, here I come.

Just as a note, the hood has 2 latches. Doesn't seem like that latch is catching on. Open your hood, check to see if the radiator overflow hose hasn't popped out of the bracket and lying on the front brace. If it is, the that latch will NOT close. Also, it will not give a warning the hood is open becuase the hood latch sensor is on the other latch.

Well, it allegedly came off the boat the day I picked it up. The car was purchased sight unseen, and we waited a few days for it to come off the boat. When I picked it up, I looked around, but didn't fully squat and do all that. I should have done it though, but I was excited, I guess I got caught up in the action.

Sunman, hopefully that's the problem, I'm not gonna touch anything until the dealer looks at it. Hopefully that'll be it, and I won't have to wait very long.

it's a biggie to me because

1. the factory failed to detect it.
2. the dealer failed to detect it when they prepared the car.
3. bringing the car back to the dealer to correct something that should have been done right is not normal.

i sure hope i won't have to go through this experience in a couple of months.

I have always noticed how badly misaligned were trunk lids on many W210 E-class sedans I happened to be following in traffic - long before I got an MB myself (meaning I was fairly unbiassed - either way). So somehow this does not surprise me at all.

so yeah, by your standards, everything should be unacceptable because evertyhing should be "GREAT" when it's engineered.

BMW fail to fixed the door seal problem on the 3-series coupe for how long? 3 years since the car was introduced. and you're complaining about a problem that's a easier fix.

I don't know why of late people having just bought the car come on here and crap on about how bad MB is. You have 2 choices...if it is such a big deal sell the car immediately and by another brand that has never had such a problem (good luck on that one) or get the problem fixed under your warranty.

hehe. luckily nowadays there are places that can fix the dents without doing much body work. but hey, there are people who care more about the appearances of their cars than me: i saw at least five or six cars at work with the car cover on. I haven't reached that stage yet

When I had my car delivered to me, it had a really loud squeaking sound from the rear wheels. Took it to the dealer ASAP, and they replaced some bushings, problem solved. Was a I dissappoineted? a little. But since it got fixed right away, I have no complaints.

As long as the dealer can fix your hood/latch problem, you'll soon forget about this. Relax and enjoy your beautiful new ride

Ok, so I may have "just" gotten the car, but I've owned another Mercedes in the past, and my family has owned multiple--we have NEVER had a problem such as this.

So you have only had one negative experience after having several MBs and now that you have had this one experience it is representative of overall MB build quality?!!

No, I've had other negative experiences with the other ones, but none this early... Also, you can see it through articles and commentaries as of late about the recent build quality. They're losing a lot of ground.

And i hope you at least tried opening then closing the hood and you do know not to push down on the hood right! becuase you can bend them

exactly what i was talking about the first part. The ladder part happens mostly on the 01-current after they redesigned the door handle to lift up outward instead of the original pulling outward handles.
