Hi Guys,
Brand new here. Wife just picked up her 07 c230 last week.
Ikkoku, in another thread you posted that your aux connector on your 07 was not near the doorsil? Does that mean you had to remove the center console sidewall, rather than the panels sawloo took off in #2 of the original post to get at the connector?
Wanted to make the mod to my wife's car, but don't want to get the panels off and not find anything.
Thanks in advance!

My aux connector is now in the middle console (see pic in 316). When I did the job, I did pull out the pillar and door sill. Since I didn't want my ipod in the glovebox, I wired it under the seat to the center console.

If you will be going this route, you will probably not need to take off the pillar. The plug is in the bunch of wires under the door sill. Pull that piece off and look for it.

I just picked up the cable from Merc of Westwood (MA) and they @#$$'ed me for $53 on it. I told him that other dealers are selling the cable for under $35 and the guy suggested that, and I quote, "perhaps you should go to another dealer then".

What could I do? It would cost me the difference to drive to another dealer and that's assuming they would sell it to me for less.

Too bad this stuff can't be bought online!

THIS IS AWESOME. I have been looking for solution for an IPOD for months.

I have a 2003 G500. I've been told that the interior of the G is based on the C Class and the adapter you show is good for the G as well.

Any comments on that?

Also, anyone know someone in the Chicago area that can do this installation for me. Sounds pretty easy but I really don't want to f*** anything up and end up with left over nuts or screws....

I can sell my AUX cable for $30 + shipping. I bought it from dealer for $45, but later changed my mind and installed ipod integration kit. They can't coexist.

I just did this mod and the sound is very flat. Strange, because when I play the same songs as MP3s on a CD in the changer, they sound fine. However, on my MP3 player they sound flat. I know it's not the player because I AUX in my player into my MDX's soundsystem and it sounds great.

I noticed another poster in this thread stated that his sounded flat too.

The midrange of every song I play is totally absent. Very weird.

hello Axxis22,

you're right, I would like to read opinions of others regarding locations and so on... my "ipod cable" stays laying around in the glovebox over the night while I take the ipod with me when I get out f the car.

Do you guys know how to turn off the ipod when turning off the engine? there must be a way to shut it down through the ipod-connector by using "Zip-Linq 3.5mm Digital Audio Cable" (somebody posted the link previously.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Zip-Linq-3-5mm-Digital-Audio-Cable-4-iPod-Mini-NANO_W0QQitemZ160030971892QQihZ006QQcategoryZ48680 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem"]
)

the ipod connector, through which some of the internal connections stick out to the wold, must offer the possiblity to turn the ipod on/off from outside... even though having an ipod on board is awesome and i fu***ing love it, if we could tweak all this a little, the result would be a blast...

One has to open the glovebox, reach for the cable and unroll it, plug it into the ipod, turn it on and eventually adjust volume and switch the audiosystem to AUX...

even if there was no way to get control over the ipod but to use an iPod Interface, having it at hand would help definitely... it would be really cool to bring the connection over into the ashtray. Is there anyway to do this clean and easily (though I hate the idea to pass a cable through the glovebox)?

looking forward to being updated with your ideas,

kitus

PLEASE HELP.

I am in Switzerland for 1 day helping a family member with her IPOD hookup. She has a 2006 C 200 Kompressor and I cannot find the White adapter like in my USA based C class. I opened up the door sill on the passenger side, looked among all the wires but could not find that free WHITE adapter in which my mercedes cable plugs into.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Help. I am only here for 1 day. Thanks in advance.

I dont think that the Euro spec models come with the connector in the door sill. Your going to have to hard wire it to the back of the radio. Does she have comand?

I finally installed this yesterday after buying the wire and having it lying there for months. One thing I did notice though was a 25-30% percent loss in volume. Now I always find myself turning it much louder than the cd player just to get a decent volume level. Btw, I'm using my ZEN Vision M. It's all the same. Can anyone post pics on the armrest installation? I thought about drilling a small hole inside the back of the glove compartment and then have it run under it and through the side.

I will try this tomorrow on my 05 C230. I went to the garage and everything is where it should be according to the instuctions. Would ther be any harm in pressing the CDC button to see if it will switch to the aux input without doing the mod? I also do not have a cd changer. Just a radio.

^^No harm done if you press and hold the CDC button. I recommend that you check to make sure that your headunit displays "Aux Active" when you hold CDC before doing the mod. If it does, you're in business. If not, it's a no go.

I just did the mod to my car last week. Panels can be a pain to get off. The iPod is a welcomed addition to my car. Thanks to Sawloo.

I checked and everything is there. The AUX INPUT option is there too. I ordered the cable from my dealer yesterday over the phone for $32. I should have it in a few days. Will post pics after mod is complete. Need to figure out the final location of the IPOD and where to pull power from. For now, I will be happy to have a better solution than the FM modulator that I have now. The dealer wants 500 to install the IPOD KIT. 300 for parts 200 for labor.

It is awesome to get a simple solution for less than $50. The dealer never mentioned this option to me.

has anyone out there installed the ipod integration kit from MB ? if so, what does it come with? it sounds like it comes with the $30 cable that plugs into the glove box and passenger side rocker panel, but what else do you get?

what about a group buy with a dealer? enough kits at one time should get us a break on pricing?

if not can i disconnect the cassette deck and connect my ipod?
my idea would be use a y-jack to not to disable the cassette desk can i do that?
