first Nav system I've seen (besides COMAND) that actually looks like it's meant to fit.

Very nice !

how was the install? did it mesh well with the fiber optic stuff in mb? speed sensors? do you need a paid subscription to use the satellites?

Well i work at the good guys here in the bay area. Because this unit has mp3 i did not have a use for my cd changer... so i have a changer for sell if any one body wants it. Because i do not have a bose system it just takes a VW harness and plugs right in, and a antenna adapter. The navigation stuff is free.

this is my Alpine IVA-D300 cd/dvd/mp3/navigation/multi aux. hookups/back up camera ready. I left the factory radio/disc changer in because I didnt want to mess with the fiber optic stuff. The power is still ran through the stock stuff also so it can always go back. I am waiting for controls to make the steering wheel work with the Alpine. In this picture it looks like it sticks out or something, but it really dosent, Ill post better pics later if anyone is interested.

There is no GPS nav system that requies a subscription. Totally free! The AVN is much more superior than the comand as far as the NAV part of it goes. I have a similar unit in my lexus. It does not integrate with the car fiberoptics at all. So you CANNOT use a Bose Amp, MB Phone Kit, VCS, Teleaid, CD Changer, etc... with any aftermarket system.
