My gas sipping C-Class
What a nice car!

My wife and I stopped by the Orlando dealer and test drove a 2005 C230 with the 6spd tranny. I think the car is flat out awesome, especially for the money. It's so much better looking than the 325i, TL, Saab, and Volvo S40.
My wife's lease is up on her Grand Cherokee pretty soon and I'm hoping she'll decide on the C230. Her only complaint is the lack of power. She's used to the low end grunt of her V8.
I explained that the 230 will need to be driven differently to utilize it's power band.
My question is this:
What performance mods are available for this car and what mods will definitely void the warranty? I want to know because if my wife does not get this car, then I'll get one for myself.

I did read through some other threads, but it seems like most of the mods done are asthetic.

Thanks,
Scott

We have a nice little flash that we would like all NOOBs to watch. It contains a lot of info and where to find it. HTH

NOOB tutorial Shamelessly copied from electromethod's sig.

It looks better than the TL??!! Gets ****ted on by the TL interior and exterior and performance for the same price. Please lets not beat the topic of 05 C230K SS vs. 04-05 Acura TL...

He did not ask for your opinion - he simply stated his. Simple and easy. All subjective.

I actually watched the Flash about five minutes after I posted...., it was funny and true...and then posted the link over in another forum, where I moderate (www.20vturbo.com)

I'll spend some time browsing through some of past threads and see what I can find.

You'll find a bunch of stuff.... there are pricy engine mods available for the C230K, but in that case, you might as well go for the C320 Sport Sedan. A bit pricier than the C230K for only a Torque and HP boost, but well worth it in my opinion, as a naturally aspirated engine. Which by the way is more mod-friendly as far as engine upgrades go.

You're right though, most of the mod threads you will find on the C230K are aesthetic mods, because like I said, engine upgrades are pricy, and really no one has put their C230K up to the guinea-pig platform. A supercharged engine is pretty much a "supercharged" engine, and some of the after-market pulley kits might give you some added bang-zoom up front, but in the long-run cause unwanted wear & tear to interior engine components not meant to spin sooooo fast ! That will definitely VOID your engine warranty.

Whatever choice you make, going with a C is definitely a good one !
Let us know what you find...

Great info. Thanks.
If I decide to keep my GTI, which will probably happen, then I may ignore the performance stuff other than a K&N. It would be nice to have my GTI and the classy sedan, for dinner dates with my wife. I'm just totally floored by how much I like the looks. It has AMG (IMO) written all over it.

BTW, I like it in the Granite Grey, Obsidian Black and Orion Blue. all with a black interior and all in the 6spd.

One of my customers is a corporate Daimler guy so I should be able to get 12.5% off of MSRP.... He will be getting a phone call from me real soon.

Thanks again for the info,

Scott

Yes, the AMG body kit makes it look very very nice ! And to think that people will soon be removing their AMG bumpers to install after-market body kits... to each his own !
I say go for the Granite Grey, charcoal interior, 6-speed, and as many options as your wallet can handle. If you've got a sweet discount coming, then make sure you get COMAND, Bi-Xenon lighting package, split-fold down rear seats, & sunroof package.

I doubt I will part it out. I do have a set of Neuspeed race springs available because I just bought a set of Weitec coil overs.

I sold or gave away most of the stock parts after I upgraded the turbo.

Tell your brother I ran a 13.1 @ 109 mph on street tires
It's definitely quick and without "rice"

And Saprissa, I agree with you 100%.......

I've heard numerous complaints about COMMAND, so I would recommend shying away from it. I would go with Pewter on Black, with Xenons as an option and 18" wheels plus a great sound system aftermarket.

I need to research the "command" more. I do like the Pewter but I see a lot of those and the silver running around. Xenons are a must.
What is the lug bolt pattern on this car? Offset?

As far as my GTI goes, the mods are:
APR Stage III
APR front mount intercooler
Quaife LSD
Magnaflow 3" straight through muffler
3" turbo back with no catalytic converter
18x8.5 BBS CH wheels
K&N
Camel Toe Motorsports cold air ducting
Weitec coil overs
Xenon conversion
.
.
.
The car dyno'd 285 hp and 299.5 ft/lbs at the wheels
Traps consistent 107-109 mph and usually runs 13.1-13.5 on street tires.
It's fast, that's for sure.

I keep trying to post a pic, but only the address shows up. What's the deal?
