Thanks for the reply.
So are they gonna fit on my 2005 c230?
Bi-xenon projector headlights are different between c230 and c55 amg, or they are the same? (because i remember they are slightly different)

What side is that? There's gotta be 2 different part numbers for each side.

c55 bi-x is the same as the CLK bi-x. Front end of the c55 had to be extended to accomodate the v8 engine, so that's why it uses the CLK front end.

194 is a poor choice for the parking lights (also called city lights.) The 194 is a design rated 14.0 v @ .27A or 2.8 watts. The light output from this lamp is only 2 MSCP. A better choice that is easy to find is the 168 lamp. A 168 is rated 14.0 v @ .35A or 3.6 watts. The light output from this lamp is 3 MSCP.

The bulb specified by Mercedes is a W5W. This lamp is an ECE type that is rated 13.5 v @ .417A or 5 watts. The light output from this lamp is 4 MSCP, or twice as much as a 194 lamp. This lamp is readily available from GE in a blister pack under GE number 27563. They cost about $ 3.50

The lamp life is quite different, ratings are:

194 2,500 hours
194XL 12,000 hours
168 1,500 hours
168XL 3,000 hours
W5W 300 hours

XL (extended life) versions cost about three times as much, but are a good choice if the lamp is in a hard to reach location, like an instrument panel. There is no XL version for the W5W.

Help: installed bi-xenon getting error

I just finished installing the bi-xenons on my factory xenon equipped 02 C-Class. I had bought the oem bi-xenons from a member here. The install went good but when I go to turn it on I received a "fr left parking light error" and a "fr right parking light error" warnings on my dash. I have double checked all wirings and have tried replacing the bulbs but the parking (or city) lights will not come on. Everything else seems to work. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you get the BiX's enabled from the MB dealership?

Angry WTF? Dealer refuses to change to Xenon = Present.

I called my local dealer which is about an hour away. I asked them about changing my headlight setting for the new BiXenon lights that I got. They had no idea how to do it. They asked me for instructions. I emailed them the screen shots posted on this forum about doing this setting. Once they saw how to do it they told me that they were not able to change this for me since that is not how the car came. What the hell??? All I want is a setting changed. I didn't want them to do it for free or anything. They refuse to change this for me and the guy in charge says no way! We won't touch it. Has anybody else had this problem???

for a job like this , you really need to know someone in the dealer or wherever it happens a lot (like CA). otherwise, the dealer will not do it because it's a custom job.

i had the same problem. what you can try to do is tell them your head lamp flickers which is really dangerous when driving at night. that's what i told my dealer after they refused to do it for me. it's a def. a hazard. besides they already know if anything goes wrong with the car that is related to the aftermarket headlamps they wouldnt cover it anyway.

good luck.

Just go to the same dealer and find a different SA. Then if they still refuse, tell them you have a survey from MB and you don't know how this unpleasant turn of events will affect your response, haha, that will get their attention.

It's better to do it as part of a service, that way it's in their hands and doing it is part of the service and they have to hookup the diagnostic software anyway so setting the option is no big deal.

Sorry, even if you know someone that works in a Mercedes Dealership... chances are you won't be able to get anything installed that's aftermarket. Simply because they don't want to deal with liability. If you want to install a spoiler, tires, or even navi, they'll be more than happy to install them if the parts are bought from them only.

i noticed you are from vancouver, which dealer did you go and which SA? i am thinking of getting the bixenon soon to replace the halogen and will need to get this done asap. Is it possible to drive with the xenon present while the headlight is still halogen?

oh yeah, they do it all the time. My advice is go to a local bodyshop and ask them to install it for you. They hsould be able to do it and havve the same knowledge the guys at mercedes do. Anyways Good Luck.
