Took a long nap today, watched the Preakness, ate, and about to take off.

Huge Thanks for the help, and thanks for posting the pics up.

E, were you able to see what I was talking about as far as the lighting is concerned? Day and night as far as safety goes.

Actually, I didn't ban that other guy yet. Just wanted to let him know that there is no such thing as "free" promotion of products on this website, but if he comes back and would like to discuss how it will be allowed, that's no problem.

As for Andy, he should know there's no harm done. Just wanted to know what e thought about the lights, cuz I talked to him for 'bout 15 minutes after he got them set to present...

A huge differenace! There is so much light!

One of the reasons I got the light was because I was getting glare/blinded by oncoming lights. Even when I was in the carpool lane, and there was a concret divider. The Bix just seem to kill that oncoming light.

I do need to aim the lights down a bit. I have gotten flashed by oncoming drivers when I was on a back road taking a "short cut." Boy where they suprised when I hit the brites back....

It was not my inention to do the tails and side mirror lights...

BUT ..

some how my rear tail got cracked. I don't know if the car backed into something, did it on purpose, but I noticed it yestarday, so perhaps I will bling out.

Of course my next mods inlcude getting:

AMG stitched into my seats
a dragon sticker for the lower quarter panel driver and passenger
Neon colored rally wipers

More to come!

I wish you would have let me know before your drive up to SF. I would have invited you to stop by and have dinner in Fresno.

He said that w/o the self leveling feature that House of Imports would not put in the xenon setting.

Anyone have a recommendation?

Ed
I know someone at Penske that can help. But guess i was a little late, glad you had it solved.

Bi-X + self-leveling + washers = $$$$$
Quote: Now, where do I get the self leveling kit to finish off the install?

I wonder if Saprissa knows it?

Damn... been out to look at the car, WAY TOO much!!!

Ed
LOL
when I first got my Bi-X
i was going into the garage like every 15 minutes.... I couldn't stop drooling on my Coupey !

Now.... self-leveling kit:
I won't say it is impossible, but it might as near well be. I'm sure someone with the proper technical know-how and MB WIS and all the correct parts could do it, but it would be one heck of a retro-fit. I'm talking Dr. Sunil (sunman) style work. I thought about doing it when I first got the Bi-X, but just never pursued it. I guess to totally finish off the install, you would also need the headlight washing system too !

I thought perhaps it was two pieces on the sway bar, the "box" mounted somewhere, then the wiring to the lights?

I wonder how much it would cost? I'm going to look into it when I get back from San Fran.

Let me know and I might get in on it again. Might be a good project to work together on, and then others will jump in as well. Kinda like how I did the Interior Motion Sensor (IMS) on the Coupé. I know where to get MB OEM parts for dirt cheap straight from the dealership....

European and American vehicle safety standards allow HID lighting only if the car is equipped with self-leveling lamps and a washer system.

Self leveling is acomplished by sensing the position of the sway bar with respect to the body. The sensor has an arm that clamps to the sway bar. There is one on the front and one on the rear. A harness is added to plug into each level sensor. With "xenon = present" the front SAM looks at the sensors and calculates a deviation from level and sends a voltage to a "motor" in the lamp assembly that moves a vane into the light beam. The vane cuts off the beam to prevent dazzling oncoming traffic when on an inclined surface. There is a bit of calibration involved in the install, but the hardest part is cleaning off the sway bar before you start.

The headlight washer is the pricey part. You need to replace the front bumper to keep everything Kosher. You need a little pump and heater, but that installs easily in the engine compartment. This is also controlled by the SAM. It gets it's marching orders from a button on the headlight switch assembly. The pump is a powerful little devil that almost "pressure washes" the headlights.

You don't really need the washer because you keep your car clean and live in So Cal, so for a little fun you can turn the nozzles forward. Now you can hit the rear window of the tourist in front of you, or hose off the sneakers of slow moving people in the crosswalk.
