Do you know where to obtain a digital climate control for the '05 w203? I have the knobs right now in my '05 and would like to know as well.

Why? The cut out in the console looks identical in size, and I, amongst other here, replaced the standard climate control in our pre-'05 C-class's with the digital versions. Not all the "new" functions on the digital unit work, but all the functions on the new unit that were on the old unit, work fine.

I think the digital units come standard in C320 models. I think the digital unit will control 2 different fans (its either driver/passenger or front/rear), but there is only 1 fan in a car that originally had the analog control (C230 and C240), and there is a carbon filter button on the digital unit that doesn't work in car's that didn't come with the digital control from the factory.

If you go to mbusa.com and under the 2005 c230 SS picture gallery, you will see a new pic displaying the new digital climate control.

My dealer said its suppose to be released on the 2005.5 models (as noted on your quickguide), yea too bad for us, hehe.

fitment should be no problem but weather it will work or not remains to be seen.

The USA model does come with digital climate control. The model is called CLK500 and the year is 2005. You do not need a special package to get digital climate control. It costs about $55,000 to get one. It does not support functionality like... I dunno... refrigerating your six-pack in the trunk.

Gameson, go here to read about pre-'05 intergration of the digital climate control. I got one off of eBay for about $100 for my '02 C240, and it worked fine. As far as what DOESN'T work on the digital unit when put in a car that had the analog unit - "the charcoal filter and left/right split airflow".

As I recall, the thing I DID NOT LIKE about the digital unit is that it takes longer to change temp vs. the analog unit. On the analog unit, you spin the knob to the temp you want and you're done. On the digital unit, you have to press the button and wait as the temp reading slowly changes.

I'm not a fan of the "improved" climate control in the '05's. The outside knobs are big enough, but too shallow and the inner two knobs are still too small.

we are talking here about the all new climate control and not the old interior.Suddenly to me the old interior looks really old and not that great .. sorry but this is my personal opinion .........

It's a great opinion too, IMO.

The center stack and instrument cluster of the 2001-2004 W203 was really bad. 2005 is a HUGE improvement.

I just spoke with the MB Parts advisor, asked him if the 2005 CLK digital climate control would fit a 2005 W203, and he says YES. But he is not sure if the wiring is the same b/c you have to give them a VIN # in order to determine which Digital Climate control to special order for you b/c the CLK offers several digital climate options?

Well he quoted me $290 including tax using the VIN from the 2005 CLK cabriolet they had on the showroom floor. Not a bad price to try it out but he also said NO refunds/returns on Special Order parts

So now we just need someone willing to try it on their 2005???

The US C320 Sedan's come with the Digital Climate Control Standard. The C240 and C230 and Coupes all get the Knobbed Climate Control. The C320 has it due to the seperate fans for the Drivers and Passengers side ventallation. On a C320 you can have the passenger set with a fan speed and temp diferent than the Driver. Not really sure why that is needed, and just makes more crap to break or go bad on the C320's.

CLK320
If it is anything like the one on my CLK, you only get one fax speed but can direct the air-flow for the driver & passenger separatly. You also get the micro-filter and sun-sensor.

In Canada, it is standard on the CLK-500/55 and a CDN$605 option on the 320.

so why dont c240 and c230 have separate fan? if they dont, how do they split the auto dual climate control for driver and passenger in c240 and c320?

Gameson, I already told you that certain (a total of 2) functions of the digital control DO NOT WORK when you put it in a car that did not have it from the factory. The digital climate control requires additional parts to function at 100%.

The C320 has a diferent air box I believe. The C240 and C230 do not have that. I imagine the AMG also has the same as the C320 setup. From MBUSA

CFC-free automatic climate control with digital dual temperature and airflow controls, plus illuminated vent adjusters. Activated charcoal filter with smog sensing automatic recirculation of filtered cabin air. 4-way sun sensor.

Well first of all, the picture is showing a C class but also an E class. And no, the E class climate controll will not work in the C class.
