Got a new mirror with ambient light under

I replaced my mirror with the new one with ambient light. Not a big deal and nothing really much to report. It not bright at all, very suttle, doesn't come in the way of the driver's sight either since it's recessed into the mirror. If you have a car from 2001-2004, you have to use the mirror from a 2004.5 car. DO NOT BUY A 2005 Mirror. The connectors are different and I myself or Steve or Dean has not tried this out. The microphone system is also different in the 2005 models. I will take pictures and post later.

I don't have a w211. Still have a 203 and will remain that way for a very long time. The light is amber in color. It doesn't matter if you have teleaid or not.

I like the ambient light in the mirror idea. But I had a W211 Wagon for a Loaner and backing up at night I was annoyed by the interior dome lights Ambient Light Ring around them. Especially the rear one. Do the W211 Sedan's have that same ring? Also does the 2004.5+ W203 have that crappy ring?

I don't think there is any ring on the mirror light at all. It is not annoying at all. You can't even see the light unless you look under the mirror. I will get the part number later on. The mirror is about 800 bucks though!

No the W211 has the mirror light, then on each of the dome lights mounted on the roof there is a surround that lights up the whole way around the dome lights. This was on both the front dome light and the mid cabin one in the wagon. Not noticeable when driving but when you turn your head to look out the back window you get distracted by the light just above your line of site which is above the rear seat. Does the C-Class dome light have a ring around it? The dome lights in the W211 look to be a 1.5x the size of the W203 dome light. And that ring around them is built in and between 1/4 and 1/2 inch wide.

That's pretty cool but why would you want a light there?

Sunman talks about the interior mirror and then someone hijacks the thread with pic of outside mirrors.

Citron, have you ever had your rearview down to inspect if it can be modded to the current mirror? I want to take mine down and inspect. There is power up there so that should not be the issue. I am just not sire if you can oopen the housing and get inside. There is no way I am giving $800 for a mirror!!! Heck, that is almost my BIX!!

ive never taken the mirror nown. ive taken the lighting console down to manually close my roof. i may get ambient lighting but not for a while. my mods have priorities, and ambient lighting which isnt that noticable is not high up.

I hear ya. I am going to look into it so if I find anything I will let you know. I am also looking at puddle lights on the bottom of the door panel as the '05's have.

woah, the puddle lights on the mirrors are nice! I want that!

as for the puddle lights on the doors, I didn't know that that was a new addition for 2005.

I digress, returning back to the amber ambient mirror light, I really don't think it's a worthwhile mod. I barely notice mine, it's kind of cool, but not worth the $800 imho. I only noticed it when I looked down and saw an amber reflection off of the AL trim... If I didn't already have it, I most likely would not even try the mod. But, sunman does have the tightest c-class out there...

good luck, I can't wait to see the truck closer!

I got those in my doors. So far I really haven't seen any value in those. I honestly would've preferred to have some lights attached at the back of the inside doorjamb. White pointing down and red pointing back.
