Lisence Plate Bolt Size

When I got the car from the used car dealer, they had installed the temp tag with self tapping screws. Does anyone know the thread size/pitch machine screw that I will need to pick up to install the hard tags correctly? I just hope they didn't booger up the threads too badly.

If your bumper is like mine then there's no threaded inserts. Sheet metal screws are what is used.

Welcome to the forum.
I had the same problem.
Had to go to OSH because Auto Zone did not have long enough ones.
If i remember correctly they are 5mmX20mm.
They need to be pretty long because the threads are at the end of the rivnut.
If you have a thick License frame you might need a little longer.
If you sign up for EPC-Netonline you might be able to find the exact length that MB specifies.

In cali, you gotta have front license plates. I have the OEM front license plate holder, took it off and realized you kinda need it b/c the bolts are massive and anything else feels like it would scratch the crap out of the front bumper. Has anyone figured out how to integrate a chrome license plate holder w/ the front OEM license plate holder w/o it hanging out and suspended in mid air?
Thx,

I went to my local MB dealer and asked for a chrome license plate holder. He simply gave me one. It's like the one MB sells except it has a one-word dealer name at the top of the frame, which is blocked by the decklid mounting area. It even came w/ chrome bolt caps. Pretty nice of them!
