I think this is security changing replacinn buton here,

if you look at CLK, E, S etc. you can see it is replaced on the gear. But I was thinking -and now it seems MB thought that !- this could cause stop the engine while you drive yes it seem maybe little change but it could be !

Start/ Stop's new place is good for me but Who needs/cares Start/Stop engine buton ! Enough key ?

you have to depress brake pedal and double click on the button to start/stop engine .. so it's not possible to stop the engine by mistake.

to me .. gear with start/stop button is more elegant .. MB should be more creative

Remember, the BMW, Lexus, and even MB has an option for stick shift. You cant have the start button on the shifter if it was stick, so rather than having a design for manual and a design for automatic, they just place it where it would work for both.

The button is removal to expose the normal key ignition slot.

And that is why you decided to post this as fact about a model yet to be introduced in the US? Thats how rumors get started. You know better than that.

Logical thinking. So, where do you suppose the ignition slot is?

No, seriously. Tell me. Where do you think it is? Why go through all of the trouble to design a different ignition system location for those with Keyless Go. Would it go on the left side of the steering wheel? Below the KG button? On top of the KG button?

Those without it still have it in the traditional location. S-Classes with KG still have it in the traditional location, same with the GL.

Aaaaanyway...we'll find out soon.

Thats exactly my point. Don't assume. Facts have to be presented with evidence prior to presentation. Postwhore post counts don't qualify.

AsianML is right, I read it in a press release somewhere.

I know Mercedes can be crazy at times, but when they start to introduce something, they move it down the lines. So W221 was first, then the GL, now the C will get that type of Keyless Go system. Mercedes has been smart unlike other manufactuers and offered the redundancy that uses the traditional key. My dad's Cadillac STS has their verison of Keyless Go and it will not work at Port Authority's parking lot in NYC. There is some kind of wierd interference that prevents certain wireless signals. It takes him many times before the car eventually recognizes it and starts. I am happy to see that MB continues to offer the backup key function. Also we will not see soon, since Keyless Go is NOT an option for the C-Class in the 2008 MY.
