Anyone have the illuminated door sills?

If so, could you take a picture of it? I'm curious to know what it looks like.

they look good. I have seen those in other MB. But I think they are to pricey so instead I order the I-pod feature. Besides only the front door ones are iluminated......

There are knock off versions for fraction of the price and you have a choice of different logos, such a Lorinser, Brabus and AMG. THe photos I've seen so far are pretty nice.

I have considered these as well. I believe a few people have gotten their dealer to throw them in since they are dealer installed anyway.

If not, I'll probably start looking into some of the knockoffs.

Do you think that MB cars are factory "prewired" so aftermarket can be instaled?

Here are pics of the illuminated sills I installed in my '03 C230 sedan. I purchased these sills from Steve (MBenzNL). Much cheaper than the dealership's price. I would also look at ForMyMercedes.com as they offer a set of 4 illuminated sills (versus ony the fronts from the dealership). This is a very unique feature and I would definitely recommend it anyone.

The sills are easy to isntall. You will need minimal wiring knowledge and a few tools, but it should take 1-2 hours to install 4 illuminated sills.

All of these statements pertain to the W203 - I do not have any information about the W204 sills.

I have heard they get scratched really easily. Is this true?

I bough mine from Jerry at formymercedes. They are great. Took me a couple of hours to install all 4 of them (yes, the rears are illuminated too), and I am by no means electric/wiring savvy. So if I could do it, most could too.

I've had no problems with scratches on the sils. But then again, I'm very careful entering/exiting my car, and I don't bring passengers too often. Jerry's sticks on top of the existing sills, but they look awesome. In fact EVERYONE I bring into my car can not say enough about these. This is one mod which will get everyone's attention. Looks very clean and classy.

The sills should not show any more scratches than the factory sills do. Mine were just fine and I had them for 3.5 years.

Anyone installed these on their W204 yet?

Just wondering if the ease of installation that is apparent on the W203 is carried over to the W204...

I had stainless steel sill plates on my car for 6 years and there are no noticable scratches, though I have one dent from trying to put on a ski boot while sitting in the driver's seat.

You could use very fine steel wool to (rubbing in the same direction of the grain) get out any scratches you may have.

I'd rather have the sills scratched rather than the paint (that's what they are made for).

I've recently received an e-mail from www.formymercedes.com and they said they will be getting illuminated sills made for W204s soon, so be sure to check their website periodically.

Am considering ordering a set myself for our C350. Are these sills made of aluminum, stainless or plastic? TIA for the info.

I'm interested in these as well pending installation costs are not too high. I am not about attempt to do this myself so I would have to pay a shop.

Local car radio/alarm guy said he could install them for $120. Should I do it? I want to make sure they look like the ones from the dealer and not cheap aftermarket ones. I would just get "Mercedes Benz" ones, not AMG or anything.

I called my local MB "stealer" for a price quote on parts and labor for the door sills. They wanted $760 for the part PLUS $700 for labor (5 hrs @ $140/hr). For that much, I'd rather get new rims/tires!

If someone can post install instructions and pictures, I'd really love to see them so I could try it as a DIY project.

I've been eye'n those AMG door sills myself...it shouldn't be too hard to do, but then again, I have a friend who's much more handy than me
