Aluminum door pins
What do you guys think about these?
There seem to be several type of door pins available. Some with the MB logo, others claim to be Brabus... I don't mind if they are made in China; I think they will improve the interior. Any coments?

BTW... how difficult to install are these?

Would be a great little mod... If you dont have to rip out all the door panels. It looks like (maybe) they are caps? Like go right over the top of the already ugly caps? Again I would get them if it was a simple install and I see someone else do it before me

Wish they'd ditch the pins all together and just go with the normal german 'double pump' on the inside handle.
Does anybody even use the pins anymore to lock/unlock the door?

i was looking at these as well.. i want to say that you simply unscrew the old ones, and then screw the new ones in... anybody willing to try.. they look so much better than the ridiculously cheap looking plastic ones.

I am surpised to see MB really chintz out on this small option. I would think that they would put a little more thought into attention to detail. I would like a set of nice ones though.

$30 shipped is not bad, the question is does it need to be professional installed?
If you do a search on eBay they have several types. There are ones that even come with the surrounding ring in the same material. I also saw ones that level with the door surface once the door is locked (a big plus).

The pins on the W204 is much nicer looking than the dated golf tee pins of the previous generation and some other models, but they still look and feel pretty cheap. I don't know why cars still have them today because of power door locks.
formymercedes.com has some nice chrome and satin aluminum pins and pin surrounds, but according to Jerry there he says aftermarket pins will only fit if the stock pins that could be screwed off. I've tried twisting the pins on my car but it won't budge a bit. Anyone else tried this?

I noticed that the surrronding rings on the w204 have a small angle to follow the door surface; the rings selling on ebay are flat... don't know if this is going to be a problem.

They don't pop out. I have pulled on one with a needlenose pliers. It appears to be attached an inch or more below the top of the door. Has anyone sucessfuly done this? Do we need to remove the door panel.

What's the point of replacing these pins?
If you think you're making a significant change in the car, take a look around at everything else that could conceivable be replaced.
Believe me, the next thing that happens is a slipped screwdrive and gouged moulding and glass.
On the other hand, if someone came up with some really comfortable seats...I'm in.

Anyone find any replacement pins for our cars yet? I agree that the black plastic ones look really cheap and would like to get aluminum replacements to match my interior.
Mine look so bad that you can even see the mold lines in the plastic!
