X3 and 2012 C coming soon
I always park far away and try to alway get an end spot. My girlfriend questioned me, then when she got my Passat, she started parking away from everyone. She began to notice how people will park right next to her even if there were spots closer to the building entrance. It is maddening.

Several times I parked way at the end of a lot and way over in my spot. As usual, another car would not only park close, but actually cross the line into my spot. WTF. Once, I left a note to inform the person what a jackass he/she was .

SUV and Minivan drivers are offenders everywhere, not just parking lots. They check their brains at the door (okay not all, but a lot). Of all of the accidents I have seen in the past 3 months, all have involved SUVs (no joke).

Remeber the Essuvee commercials that had to tell SUV owners how to operate their vehicles? They need a courteous parking commerical now.

On VW Vortex, a member told a story of returning to his motorcycle and finding an elderly man picking his bike up (it was laid down). There was considerable damage. When he asked the old guy what was going on, the old guy indicated he couldn't open his wife's door to let her out because he was too close to the bike. Instead of moving his car, he laid the bike down to open her door .

O.P., sorry this kind of sh*t happened to you.

Luckily where I live its pretty low key and not a very big city, so parking lots aren't near as crowded and I can pick out a nice spot away from other cars but not too far. My problem with parking way way way away from everyone is your car is then a target. By parking away from everyone else you single your car out, not only for thieves but for any other low class vandals that happen to be cruising the parking lot. Not to mention if the parking lot has any snow or ice on it then you run the risk of the stupid young kids doing doughnuts through the parking lot and clipping your car. I always try to find a happy medium, some where away from cars, but near a light pole or embankment that can shield the car on one side at least, that way its by itself but not drawling attention to itself.

This is why I double park in handicap spots. You get up front and its safe for your car. Really tho i havent ran across any dings or scratchs other then just one but i think the carwash place did it. I was not a happy camper.

I hate that ... soo sorry it happened to you.

the thing is some ppl consider a "car" to be just a travel medium.
usually the ppl who keep their cars really really dusty & muddy.
the "Oh I'll let the rain wash my car" type.

but enthusiasts alike know that a car for us is a part of the family
more so a part of themselves.

ppl need to get that in their damn heads!!!

if the car is shiny and bright... don't touch it.
the owner probably spent more time and money then the damn
monthly grocery you've picked up

i hear you...

Back in the winter of 2003/2004, my new C230 had a broken rear-center brake light. There was no damage to the trunk lid, but just a broken brake light. Almost as if someone did it on purpose.

Of course, I no longer have that car in 1 piece.. check out my sig!
