4 MATIC is worth or which is the best ?

4 MATIC came to our country and confused

this is C 300 4 MATIC -sport- !

4 MATIC is like QUADRO in audi means all wheel drive but it is worth if you do not live in Alaska or Sibiria cold-snow

seeing 4 MATIC here only in snow countries but I want to learn technically it is must , + plus worth or - negatif effect with normal C 300 & C 350 ?

power versions of C here ;

C 320 CDI C 300 4 MATIC and C 350

if you are , which one you buy ?

C Class 4 Matic not available in UK at present. It would be nice to have the option though.
Usually with 4 wheel drive car is a lot heavier and so leads to heavier fuel consumptiom.
Personally I have owned a couple of Audi Quattro's and they are superb at roadholding, but if you are using your car for NORMAL driving then I don't see the point in paying out extra money {IMO}. Spend the extra money on other nice options if you don't really need to have 4WD.

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
I think Quattro is better than the front drive alternative, but I'd rather have just RWD.

Totally agree with Derspeed RWD is more of a drivers car

IMO, whether 4matic/awd/quadttro is worth it entirely depends on your winter driving skills and geographic location. For years I've drive a RWD in NE of the states from ontario to nyc, hell, even to vermont ski resorts. I've learned to spot conditions and developed awareness for winter driving. Now i'm at the age where I care more about comfort/safety than performance/fun.

so it really depends on your driving habits and geographic location.

I don't understand why you just think people in Alaska and Siberia need AWD.
If you live in the States, in New York, im pretty sure you would want a 4MATIC, anywhere where snow falls you want a 4MATIC, luckly i got my car when the snow just started to fall hard in Canada, 4MATIC is well worth it, and plus they last longer than standard cars do. Who knows how good you are at driving manual, you could **** up the transmission. PLus with the 4MATIC in the c300, you get 7 speed tiptronic. IO its well worth it, basically anywhere you live.

It all comes down to the rubber .... awd lets you get away with/masks traction deficiencies of all season rubber in winter conditions. Until you go to stop. 4 x 0 still equals 0.

RWD with a decent set of snow tires can be very effective.

I'm not a huge fan of systems that shift torque using electronics and the individual brakes, they always seem to be one step behind what's going on. I'm happier with a mechanical system, they always seem to me to be more predictable.

When the ML first came out, I had an old fashioned, 4WD (part time, low range transfer case) 4Runner and I consistently got out of stuff that my buddy's ML would sit in and do a little spin/brake/spin stuck dance.

The tire size on mine are 225/45-17 in the front and 245/40-17 in the rear.

To the OP, 4Matic is great. If you get snow in your area, I'd get it. If you don't get snow or get very little snow, go for the RWD.

2008 R350 & 2008 C300
Couple points here, if you get any snow where you live its good piece of mind to have the 4matic system and worth every penny. It doesn't effect gas mileage but it does effect your performance numbers (stock 7.1 4matic around 8.1). I have already read a couple threads on here of people with 2 wheel drive versions driving through snow and either getting stuck or having the rear get lose, having 4matic isn't fool proof, but it would help in such cases. Another point I just seen a few posts up was that 4matic cars don't have staggered width wheels...I thought we already ran that topic into the ground but for those living under a rock the wheels on all sport models are staggered width regardless of drive train only the luxury models are the same size front to back, no worries I made this mistake as well from reading all the MB literature. So if you live where you don't get any snow, then save yourself the $1800 bucks you would spend on the 4matic and put it towards the p1 or p2 package, or if your in the states put it towards a C350.
