Hit Govern - Top Speed
US models with H-rated tires are governed at 130mph. The speedo might read 2-3 mph higher.

I am a bit surprised that the governer stopped him at 140. Thought I had read somewhere that it was suppose to stop you at 155 mph, but then think of the carnage.

In Europe, the same engine cars are allowed to go up to just past 150, since they give you a higher rated tire there.

) before Gov kicking in. Also if you are relying on your dash speedometer then it may not be correct.
In a 6-speed C300 Sport with 18" AMGs.
I'm fairly certain that all C, E and S-class cars (non-AMG) are in fact electronically limited to 130, regardless of which wheel+tire package is on the car.
Most of the AMG cars have a 155 mph limiter, and a few of the super high horsepower cars can be order with a special package that raises top speed to 186 mph.
Them's the facts as I choose to believe them.
And to whomever was asking, the digital display is merely repeating what the analog readout is showing - you aren't going to see a difference between the two.
Anyway, the governor in each model is set to keep the speed below one of two thresholds, depending on the market:
-The limit imposed by the tire rating.....OR....
-The 155 mph [250 kph] German "voluntary" limit on those cars in those markets where this is politically acceptable.
So put your foot down if you must....but don't get too excited about the differences we're reading about here. There are too many other variables - temp, wind speed, tire pressures, individual engine production variations, tire make and model.....and then the computer governor.
