Non-Zenon...is it bright enough?

Hi!

I'm thinking about skipping the Zenon light...is the stock headlight bright enough for regular driving? Should I jump for the Zenon which is PII?

gets me from point A-B
I would upgrade to the xenon headlamps, in addition the brighter light, it also has the fog light cornering system.

i love the xenon, thankfully it came standard here but if it was an option i would take it, it is definitely alot better than standard halogen.

I installed the HID kit and it only cost me only $175.00
PII not for me,

it also has the fog light cornering system.
There is a thread about cornering system on which some W204 owners are not happy about this option

I don't think the brightness is a major problem with the standard lights. To me, the main advantage of the xenon light is that it looks good! The active lights should work very well, I think it would be worthwhile getting that.

.
I have read various magazine articles stating that the standard lights are very good indeed. My experience with the standard lights on a 2005 C230k (coupe) is that the standard lights are fine but not great, whereas the high beams are extremely good.

If

you are running standard H7 bulbs you can get great light at far less cost then the conversion.Have longer bulb life and much more light.
Go to www.danielsternlighting.com
and pick up 4 H7 65watt rally bulbs H9 burners on H7 bases.
You will be happy and your wallet will also.
He is the guru of automotive lighting so read his tech papers also.

people have been using standard bulbs since headlamps were invented...the fact that there is something better available now doesn't mean that those are now ineffective.

If you want to get the MB bi-xenon lighting system. Then you need to replace the head lights assembly and reflash the computer.

Xenon

<<I'm thinking about skipping the Zenon light...is the stock headlight bright enough for regular driving? Should I jump for the Zenon which is PII?>>

With Bi-Xenon comes light self-levelling and headlight washers, remember. Plus PII includes folding seats (a must), LED rear turn lights and some other items well worth having.

Those that passed on PII are quite voluble on what a terrible waste of money it is and that they just "couldn't justify it."

Buyer's remorse, I say.

I have PII. I could probably live without it. The bi-xenon is the best part of P2, and the sunshade I guess.

The folding seat, for me, is something I'll probably never use.

All depends where you live, right here at South Cal I don't see the need of having headlights washers, folding seat, rear sun shade is useless to me that’s why I had my windows tint, the only nice about PII is the Bi-xenon lights and of course that’s just me and if you do not get it don't feel any Buyer's remorse.

As someone who has had Xenon and went back to projection beams I can say what I just posted on another thread " I miss the added safety of the Xenon but I don't miss the price" The Xenon lighting package only set me back $900 when I bought my old ML in 2006, now its part of a P2 package like the C class and is way too expensive for my taste. I did like the way the headlights turned at an angle when making turns (not available on the C class) and I liked the way they lit up all sorts of things I never knew where there, but I was disappointed with the aesthetic look of MB's Xenons..they looked plain white instead of the nice Audi/BMW cool greenish blue look.

Good thing here in Australia Xenon is included in the "Vision package" which includes the HK sound system, COMAND with GPS and sunroof, which is a fantastic deal. Active (turning) lights add another $300.
