Please somebody tell me that MB has not put the hooded dials on the 2009 C-Class in Canada.

I saw a pic of the gauges of a 09 listed for sale in South Carolina. It appears to have hooded gauges.

It probably does have hooded instruments. it looks very nice. I am sure the canadian version will also have them. I have seen them on the US Cars. They are like the C63.

The MBUSA 2009 C Class brochure also does not show the hooded gauges either, but they are there....I just looked at a few cars with them this morning.

They actually look fine, as the gauges+hoods are covered by a slightly curved and sloping transparent cover; very similar to the C63. No reflections, no dust build-up.

No - I think they look terrible. I liked the fact that Mercedes had avoided putting this sort of instrument cluster on their sedans.

I dont know what hooded dials are but the MY09 C has the same as 08 dials.

The GL, ML and C63 all have hooded instruments. I have a GL and the instruments look great.

Hooded dials are like what the AMG C63 has where the gauges have a recessed look beacause of the top hood part.

Our cars have a flat gauge area.

Just got mine today!

Canadian C300 4MATIC 2009 and yes the new hooded gages are here...
I saw both and the new hooded gages do look better.

Don't why so many dislike the hooded instrument dials, I actually like them.
It looks more sporty though a little less upscale.
I don't like the chunky looking numbers on the AMG dials.

If MB is reading this thread it would not surprise me to see the " hooded dials " as an option for 2010 or after. Which means that the people who like them will have to pay extra for them. Personally i think they make the car look a bit more sportier inside. After all it is a Sport Sedan.

I'm thinking exactly opposite: for a "sporty" car you want weight reduction ;-) That hood has to add some weight, no? Maybe, what, 4 oz?
