Dr Colorchip Paint Chip Repair - Initial Review

I came across this product while searching for paint chip repair as something had to be better than standard touch-up paint.

No you will not totally fill in the chip and have a seamless repair that looks like new but this product does eliminate that "paint blob" as described. The excess is removed and the only thing left is the chip slightly filled in with a much smoother finish than what touch up brushes or pens provide.

Maybe I'll get better with practice and even out the chip depth to the surrounding paint better.

I tried this on my silver car. It doesnt work well for silver, you can still clearly see the scratch and the silver pigments do not stay. $50 down the drain for me. I heard it works better for darker colors.

I blew fifty bucks on this also. I figured the fancy wooden case was half the cost and unnecessary..

My '01 Obsidian Black C320 had a bunch of hood chips and I thought why not.

It certainly did not fill in the chips but did make them slightly less obvious. The main problem is that their magic white fluid which is used to remove the excess dried paint runs out long before it should. You end up with a lot of the paint but can't use it since the "remover" is used up.

I cannot endorse this product.

Pictures don't say anything truthful as they can be manipulated as done on Dr. Chips website I'm assuming. I'm a part time photographer so I speak from experience. I can make the chips vanish with low lighting and a certain angle or make the chips look exaggerated if I wanted.

Filling in a few more chips the results are the same as my first. Difficult if not impossible to even out the chip with the surrounding paint. There is still that divot left but a smoother fill in than blobs of brushed on touch-up paint.

Angry Worse Than With Chips Present

Tried your color and sealact yesterday on Silver Benz.

Went through all videos and FAQ.

Did everything by the book as indicated on website and back of the box.

End result was blotches and marks on the hood, which looks worse than the chips that were present earlier!

I lost more than half/three quarters of paint and the sealact and resulting in horrible looking hood.

It's alright. I put it on to fill in tiny rock chips. I end up wiping it off with the solution. Only stayed on like 1/4 of the time. If it stayed on it would be good!

Sent an e-mail to DrColorChip who have asked for the pictures of the blotched paint, which I've sent to them. Let's see if they can help fix it.

I am surprised at what I am reading, I have posted about this product before (and posted before and after pics) , use it on my steel gray C350 and Black CTS, works amazing!

No blotching at all, chips are basically invisible - same as seen on the website, I did have to order extra solution, but you get get it by itself without ordering more paint and it is cheap - I love this product and endorse it 100%...

You really have to follow the directions to the T, and use little to no pressure on the final step, just back and forth lightly a hundred times to ensure you do not pull the paint out of the chip, maybe this is where you guys are rushing a bit?
